Luke 16:18 says that everyone who divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery.
1 Corinthians, 6:9 says ..."the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingodm of God....neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor effeminate, nor homosexuals"
Everyone quotes the Corinthians verse to me as proof that I cannot be gay and Christian...I am told that unless I turn from homosexuality, that I will go to hell, by not inheriting the kingdom of God.
With that same logic and verses then...those that are married two a second spouse and who refuse to go back to the first one is commiting adultery, and thereby unwilling to change their sinful lives... so are going to hell?
If so, why don't churches preach harder about the sinof divorce? Is it because they are afraid of alienating a portion of the monetary contributors considering the divorce rate is well past 50%

Esther,
John 8 says that when the scribes and Pharisees brought the adulterous woman to Jesus...God said, let he who is without sin himself cast the first stone...go and sin no more..
go and sin no more...if someone is divorced and remarried, they are commiting adultery according to the Bible...the only want not to continually sin is to return to the first spouse...according to scriptures...
Adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God...
I do not believe this...but, you cannot have it both ways...divorced people are ok. if they confess...eventhough they continue to sin by staying married to the second spouse....but gay people are not ok. if they continue to live in their lifestyle?

well, you can find whatever you want in the bible to twist it into something YOU want to believe to justify such hatred! But, you are wrong. surely such thoughts and comments and misquotes means that the person twisting and abusing the words will also end up in HELL?

Every day you wake up is another day you have a chance to change your life. Jesus gives forgiveness to a repenting heart. Re married people are permitted to divorce under sexual perversion. God is a God of mercy and knows the ways of man ( including women) are perverse. Spouses choose to work things out for Godly ways or selfish ways. Selfish ways are the ways to condemnation but only to an un-repenting person. Your question about money is your view point on money and why you fear church. What spills out of your mouth is from your own heart. Read Romans 1:26ish. It is a perversion for even women to women homosexuality. I hope you turn back to the Lord. If you feel in your own mind you are not condemned than you are deceiving yourself for scripture is clear on this. I will pray you will see the correct path. This is why sinful men rage with anger against God for their own selfish ways and ideals. Find the true God in the bible and re- connect. Find a " bull lesbian women" and then two negatives make a positive.

Have you ever confessed your sin of homosexuality? If you are in this lifestyle and stubbornly refusing to come before God and repent of that sin, then you will not be forgiven it. A person who divorces and remarries may have confessed the sin. You don't know their position before God. But you can know your own. If you get up every morning, planning that day to do as you please and ignore God's admonition, you are in wilful sin. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I can tell you....in a frank way...that the bible says you need to work out your "own" salvation in fear and trembling. If I were you, I'd pay more attention to my own sins.....than others.

1 Corinthians 6:9 is saying that nobody can inherit the kingdom of heaven "in their sins." Jesus Christ came to help sinners. If someone committed adultery they have the ability to fully repent and be fully forgiven for that act.
First off, be careful in identifying yourself. Your ultimate identity is not "a gay" or "a homosexual." Your ultimate identity is "a child of God." As a child of God you may be inclined to more homosexual 'thoughts' and 'feelings' than others, but that doesn't make YOU a "homosexual." Label the behavior, feelings and thoughts, but not yourself. By labeling yourself it's like saying that you have no choice in what you choose to do.
You must realize the difference between temptation and sin. Jesus Christ was tempted, yet because he DID NOT GIVE IN TO THE TEMPTATION he was without sin. Your homosexual thoughts and feelings will probably never go away. BUT THOSE ARE NOT THE SINS. You can ignore those thoughts and not give them any heed. You can choose to not involve yourself in homosexual "behavior." The temptation to involve yourself in that kind of behavior is not a sin. Temptation is not the sin, giving in to temptation (i.e. going and having sex with a member of the opposite sex, or anybody for that matter) is a sin. You can live a righteous life despite the fact that you are more inclined to have homosexual thoughts and feelings.
The link below will furnish you with more thoughts concerning this. God bless you. You are a child of God whom God loves very much.

Neither is the unpardonable sin. You can be divorced and remarried and still be blessed and used by God. If you live the life of a homosexual and don't repent and turn away from that lifestyle, you doom yourself.

Not only that, but the divorce rate is higher for Evangelical Christians than for any other religious group. (Atheists score lowest!)

I think I read, in that same book, something about taking the beam out of your own eye before you remove the splinter from another's...

For all these unforgiveable sins listed in the bible, I would have to sacrifice all the cows in texas, all the corn in iowa, and 3/5's of my family just to make it to the pearly gates for a hearing.

No, he knew our hearts were hardened and made a divorce certificate and the sexual sin is in excusable, it is against nature, no animal does this except perverted man, it goes against the nature he gave them when he created them, it is really a Jezebel spirit from satan that has perverted their sexuality to get them under the curse for disobeying God, But God loves the sinner and hates the sin so repent and be clean! read this and start here!

Sin is sin... and we need to turn from our own desires and turn to God.
if people are divorced and have not accepted Jesus... remarry... and then find Jesus as their Savior, all sins are forgiven... if people are gay, and turn from their sins to Jesus... all sin is forgiven.
if we continue to live in sin even knowing that God says it is sin... God will turn his face from us... according to the word
our church teaches that sin = sin... there isnt a worse one or a better one.... only 1 way to heaven and that is thru Jesus, by turning from our sins and accepting Christ's gift of salvation.
the choice is all yours!
