My Grandmother is almost 90 years old. She is VERY religious. She prays to feel better, she has a priest come to her house twice a week, she believes that God has a hand in everything that happens around her. She loves to read and she used to teach oil painting. Now, the God she believes in, has taken her eyesight so bye bye reading and painting. She is very crippled in her legs so she can't go anywhere unless I take her. Four days ago, her house was destroyed by vandals. All of the things she has collected over the years is gone. The only thing left in her life to give her any happiness was a pet bird that God took so suddenly yesterday that the Vet was shocked. So, I ask all of you, what kind of a God would put a frail elderly woman through all of this. She has seen enough adversity in a lifetime. Why does she need all of this heartache. Thanks to all of the recent events of the last few days, she is now in the hospital and has given up on life. Why should I believe anymore??

Some of us don't want to hear it anymore, no matter how right they think they are or their religion is. Enough is enough.

Religion.
The reason it gives you a 'sublime and lasting peace' is because it tells you that there is a lovely idealised world up there for us to pass onto when we die.
The idea of not knowing what lies beyond this life TERRIFIES humans. Religion quells this terror through make believe stories. Much like fairy tales give children a fantasy world to believe in.
Why not break free and seek to find the TRUE MEANING OF LIFE?
You certainly won't find it within an institution designed to lull the human race into a false sense of security.

It seems that such an evil character could not really exist and was invented to scare people into church.

It seems like one of the poorest arguements ever...its horrible. I mean, its God's plan that a baby is born still born, its God's plan that someones Mother lasts months of constant pain before finally dying of bowel cancer. Its disgusting.

Jesus is the Savior of all mankind, especially of those who believe.” (1 Tim. 4:10)

According to this, all mankind is "saved" including those who do not believe. Those of you who know me have seen me write that very thing a hundered times. "Most souls cross over and religion has nothing to do with it." Only yesterday did I know that there was actually a bible verse to back it up.

I can bet that you could give me a 100 scriptures to contradict this one. Please give them to me. I can add them to my "List of bible contradictions".

Or, is it "Out of Context"?

Have a nice day people.

(I asked this in politics, but I just thought I'd see what the R&S ppl think)

For all the people obsessed with calling Muslims murderers and savages who oppress their women and beat their prisoners, has it ever occurred to you that you are just picking on people who are to smart to fight back?

Do you think tabloid scare headlines are 'proof' and 'evidence' that Muslims are evil butchers? Do you ever take into consideration that Moslem families are closer than western families, and have solid foundations that go back centuries - much more solid than Christianity?

Do you really think that tiny groups that are violent are a good example of the other 99.999% that are peaceful? That Muslims appreciate being provoked, ridiculed, bombed, and then you think you can 'catch them out' because they get angry about it?

There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world; the only thing the Muslim world has done wrong is that it has not stood up for itself. If they really wanted you gone, you'd be gone.

What would you do if someone very close to you (child, sibling, parent, etc.) said that they were going to be baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and wanted you to come to the baptism?

What if they were getting married in the temple and invited you to the reception?

What if they, or their child, was leaving on a mission and asked you to come to the farewell?

What if they invited you to a temple open house?

What would you do?

Some people steal, they cheat and lie. For wealth and what money will buy. But don't they know on the judgement day, their gold and silver will melt away.

What good is gold and silver to, If your heart's not free and true? Oh please hear me when I say: Get down on your knees and pray.

Oh please come to Jesus now. At His feet, humbly bow. Confess to Him your every sin, He'll give your Joy and Peace within.

I'd rather live in a deep dark cave and know that my poor soul was saved, than to live in this world in a house of gold, deny my God and lose my soul.
