The only back ground music I can suggest is the Cosmic sound produced by playing the Indian string instrument 'Tanpura' ( Tempura or Tambura ) which provides base for any classical music in Vedic sense.

Nobuo Uematsu's "Sairin Tsubasa No Kenshin", or "One-Winged Angel".
...Sephiroth's theme.
Although a better choice would be the Benny Hill theme. That makes ANYTHING funny.

For hymns, I would choose either "Victory in Jesus" or "At The Cross."
For more contemporary Christian music, I would choose "Our God is an Awesome God" or "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" or even "You Shine."
For something a little more tongue-in-cheek, I would choose Bad Religion's "Stranger Than Fiction."
