(I asked this in politics, but I just thought I'd see what the R&S ppl think)

For all the people obsessed with calling Muslims murderers and savages who oppress their women and beat their prisoners, has it ever occurred to you that you are just picking on people who are to smart to fight back?

Do you think tabloid scare headlines are 'proof' and 'evidence' that Muslims are evil butchers? Do you ever take into consideration that Moslem families are closer than western families, and have solid foundations that go back centuries - much more solid than Christianity?

Do you really think that tiny groups that are violent are a good example of the other 99.999% that are peaceful? That Muslims appreciate being provoked, ridiculed, bombed, and then you think you can 'catch them out' because they get angry about it?

There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world; the only thing the Muslim world has done wrong is that it has not stood up for itself. If they really wanted you gone, you'd be gone.

I think that this is a secondary reason. The primary reasons are:
1. Fighting Israel's war for them. While Arab countries may consider supporting the Palestinian cause against Israel, they are unable to take on the US directly. A cynic would point out that as US taxpayers pay for Israel's armed forces, there is little difference.
2. The grab for oil. The US stockpile their own oil for the future and steal other countries reserves for their current consumption.
3. Wars provide a useful way of syphoning US taxpayers money into the pockets of politicians via lucrative defence contracts.

George W Bush had erred and his reasons to go to war were not questioned simply becasue Bush thought the US has the power to quickly settle in and control the oil fields. Also, the religious aspect helped the administration by getting the support of conservatives religious right wings. That is the same as saying Iraq was a easy target.

The republican congress failed the citizens by helping the president bully the democrats with questions of patriotism. And we are still paying the price.

alot of what the tabloids publish is frankly scare mongering no i dont think the americans are waging a war against them. basically american have been living a a goldfish bowl of superiorty since the end of the second world war, they thought they were invincible, a great super power and the envy of the world asa peace loving fair society, yet they still have wide spread poverty and an appallling human rights record, remember this is the country that got marshalls to fire on student protest groups in the sixities. they go to war to 'help' though they havent the first idea of what they are doing really vietnam being the prime example of them wading in where they are not wanted proclaiming to free the opressed but getting it confused with persuing there own interests. so having pissed off loads of people one extermist group manages to seek its revenge ( 9/11) what a slap in the face for them, so they act and go charging in without seeing that they cant just do what they like to who they like , there will always be exteremists that doesnt mean everyone should get tarred with the same brush, and the end of the day singling out a religious group to blame wage war on and try and change isnt democratic , more like a certain 'final solution' of the 1930's
america should take a look at its self remove it self from up its own **** and relise its not thw world super saver that it likes to believe, not everyone believes in the same things they do but thats just how the world works, yes look for extremeists that threaten the saftey of your own people but remember one mans terroirtist is another mans freedom fighter and whos to judge whos right and wrong ?

Much more solid then Christianity??? Was this a double blind study on your part? What are your credentials? Who was involved in this study??? Go back centuries is true, the Koran was written a mere 600 yrs after the new testament of the Bible, I guess that would make their foundation solid

Since when are we waging a war on Islam? I don't believe we are. If we were, we would not just be attacking Afghanistan and Iraq, but Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and many other Middle East countries which are primarily Muslim.
No, we're fighting a war against TERRORISM, and against Muslim extremists. Most of us realize that just because a few within Islam are evil doesn't mean they all are.
That would be like saying that just because people who called themselves Christians perpetrated the Crusades, the Inquisition, and have bombed abortion clinics, that ALL Christians want to kill those who refuse to convert, burn witches, and bomb abortion clinics. SOME people say that, but they're wrong.

No body is waging war on muslims you numpty, The US and Britain is waging war on terrorists and those who seek to undermine western civilisation and impose their ideals on us. Now it is irrelevant if these people turn out to be muslim or not.
As for Muslim families being close? Tell that to the poor young girls who are subject to honour killings by their own fathers brothers and uncles because they fell for a non muslim, or even just a man who wasnt chosen by her parents. Or those that are disowned by their families and live in fear of their lives for daring to have a mind of their own.
It seems pride and 'honour' is more important to some than family closeness. Though how killing your daughter is honourable is beyond me. It is just one example of the sick and twisted way in which Islam can be interpreted

In all religion there are extremist...but it is disguised in ways which may not seem violent or oppressive.

USA is manged by a bible bashing president....he naive beyond belief...to think that the only religion around is Christianity and all other religions are evil. The merican people are the losers...as the muslims have already won therecent battles...it is the outcome of the war that is important...but this will only be know when we all dead and gone...at least another100 years of so....

I don't think it's because Muslims are easy targets, but rather, Muslims are not unified under one leader or Caliph. Just look at Iraq, were there are Muslims killing each other while an occupation force is plotting on their oil. Divide and conquer.

Muslims don't fight back - since when?
As for muslim families being closer than western families, i think you are generalising the western community a bit too much. For me, Italian and Spanish families are the closest and they are Catholic.
