I am a Christian....
I really want a tattoo, but I would like to know if it is wrong since I have heard different perspectives on it.

How so? What is Buddhism's blood crime? How about Hinduism (The war over Kashmir is political)? I've never heard of the Shintoists, the Taoists, the Confuscious-followers, the Norse, the Celts, the Anglos-Saxons, the Vikings, the Visigoths, the Native Americans, or in fact any of those not of an Abrahamic faith rising up to fight a holy war. Wars over land and resources yes, never over religion. Even the Jews have a history that isn't as "bloody" as the above statement would indicate. "All major religions..." how?

I really do. Not the old Catholicism when they used to kill people, the recent version.

If I was a Christian, I would be a Catholic, and here's why:

They have gorgeous buildings and decorations. It really makes it feel holy inside, because they make their buildings with all their best stuff like it's something really special and sacred.

They still use a lot of old school universal worship stuff like incense. It really sets the mood for a spiritual experience.

There is a lot of ritual which also really sets the mood for a spiritual experience.

Every Catholic Church I've ever gone into has a magical feeling. It would be cool if you wanted to meditate to just go hang out there.

Catholicism teaches good morals and enchorages spiritual experiences, but it's more laid back in a lot of ways. Like if you need help with something, you can receive council from the priest, but mostly it's just like a reminder to be spiritual. Also Cathlolics have never tried to convert me.

What three people were buried in the promised land (Book of Joshua)?

Or did he die so that a mortal human of divine blood could serve as an equitable sacrifice for all Mankind that was to come who wished to seek the Lord in spite of his Original Sin and his human imperfection? How do Americans continue to justify pretending to be GOD fearing people in spite of all this crap? What kind of sick joke is this? I understand the history of how this came to be, and all that's fine and dandy for what it's worth, but if Americans pretend to love Jesus so much, why would they continue to carry out a pagan ritual that's been sprinkled here and there with a few Christian concepts that specifically caters to the hedonistic consumer addicted sycophantic godless American pseudo-culture and still pretend that it's about loving the son of GOD? That's sickening. So why America? Can't you choose one way or the other? You're either Americans or you're GOD fearing, since those 2 are conflictual by the very nature of their design and practice, ya can't be both.

Why then does the beatification and sanctification of martyrs require evidence of their miracles in order to be recognized?

Aren't the Catholic authorities demanding "compelling evidence" of these deeds?

If I go to Vatican and tell the pope my dead cat cured me of AIDS, will the Pope use his FAITH and so he'll sanctify my cat?

Or will he DEMAND PROOF?

Evil God Part 3: If God is not evil, why did he slaughter men and leave the bodies out to rot?

"In that day those the LORD has slaughtered will fill the earth from one end to the other. No one will mourn for them or gather up their bodies to bury them. They will be scattered like dung on the ground." (Jeremiah 25:33 NLT)

You are probably aware of the fact that to atheists your gods are as much myth as any god ever, um, known to man. Why then are we not embroiled in vicious argument like we sometimes seem to have with the christians? I would say some of you are good friends and we generally get on like a house on fire. What gives?

As an aside, wikipedia's article on Norse Mythology states:
"Most of this mythology was passed down orally, and much of it has been lost. However, some of it was acquired and recorded by Christian scholars, particularly in the Eddas and the Heimskringla by Snorri Sturluson, who believed that pre-Christian deities trace real historical people. "

Christian scholars saved your history? If this is correct, is it more than a little ironic or what?

And now the LORD Almighty says: Because you have not listened to me, I will gather together all the armies of the north under King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, whom I have appointed as my deputy. I will bring them all against this land and its people and against the other nations near you. I will completely destroy you and make you an object of horror and contempt and a ruin forever. I will take away your happy singing and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will no longer be heard. Your businesses will fail, and all your homes will stand silent and dark. This entire land will become a desolate wasteland. (Jeremiah 25:8-11 NLT)

He attacked religion, saying that it degraded gays and women and therefore did not give them their basic human right. He say other things which I cannot recall, but he definitely believed in basic human rights. My question is: if there is no god, how can there be basic human rights?

If human rights are man made, they are not basic and can be easily changed, so what decides these rights if we are just here by a freak accident.

"Weep and moan, you evil shepherds! Roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock! The time of your slaughter has arrived; you will fall and shatter like fragile pottery. You will find no place to hide; there will be no way to escape. Listen to the frantic cries of the shepherds, to the leaders of the flock shouting in despair, for the LORD is spoiling their pastures. Peaceful meadows will be turned into a wasteland by the LORD's fierce anger. He has left his den like a lion seeking its prey, and their land will be made desolate by the sword of the enemy and the LORD's fierce anger." (Jeremiah 25:34-38 NLT)

Theists believe in some form of God(s). Yet, theists cannot prove, conclusively, that their God(s) exist. Thus, their beliefs are a form of Faith! Faith in the existence of God!

Atheists believe in no God(s). Yet, atheists cannot prove, conclusively, that any God(s) do not exist. Thus, their beliefs are also a form of Faith! Faith in the non-existence of God!

Thus, there is no objective means for determining which is "right" and/or preferable because neither has a logical or empirical advantage over the other.

Hence, the only reason for going with one or the other -is- faith!

So, the real queston is... What REALLY makes theists and atheists any different? (And please don't say the obvious answer)

How about a Doberman Pinscher with horns and a pitchfork?

Have faith in the chihuahua...

The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces." (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB)
