And now the LORD Almighty says: Because you have not listened to me, I will gather together all the armies of the north under King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, whom I have appointed as my deputy. I will bring them all against this land and its people and against the other nations near you. I will completely destroy you and make you an object of horror and contempt and a ruin forever. I will take away your happy singing and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will no longer be heard. Your businesses will fail, and all your homes will stand silent and dark. This entire land will become a desolate wasteland. (Jeremiah 25:8-11 NLT)

God doesn't want you to be unhappy. Did you read the verses surrounding these ones? You can't just read the bad ones! If you read ahead into Jeremiah 25:1-11 it says that God told them not to do something and they did. He didn't just say it once though he had told a prophet for 23 years before this punishment and the prophet warned the people. Its like do you have a little cousin or sibling? It normally takes more than one time before they will stop doing something! You may even have to punish them if they don't listen like God. But I'm sure you wouldn't wait 23 years of warnings!

LOL! It says in the first few words YOU typed why He did that.

"Because you have not listened to me"

I see you have many evil God questions. You have to understand the mindset of God and Religion. If you do well, when you die, you go to heaven for ever and ever and ever, and dwell in eternal bliss. That means the 70 or 80 measley years you live on earth and deal with **** is NOTHING compared to how long you will live. That is like looking at an "evil" first year of life for a baby, and then having a blissfull 79 years after that. Except that is a "1:79" ratio. The ratio for "evil" existence to blissfull Life is "80:infinity!"

In this light...there is NOTHING that an "evil" God could do to us...no terrible act or acts, no matter how degrading or sinister...that could make an eternity of love and bliss NOT worth it. It doesn't matter how much garbage people have to deal with, it is all temporary, and is all over in the blink of an eye when compared to "forever."

This, my friend, is a good God. A graceful, loving God, who has a reward for us. The God that makes us live and experience terrible things for reasons we can't understand now, but someday will....then we'll say, "aahh...that was worth it."

...You asked this question: Why does God want people to be unhappy? Quite to the contrary, He knows what will make us happy - this will come as a by-product of our obedience to Him. We will be happy if we obey. If we disobey Him, we should be unhappy.
...The better question is, "Why didn't they obey?". When we obey the Lord, we are much happier and He often rewards us. God is very serious about us obeying His Word. Why does God want us to obey Him? The answer can be found in the following verses:
...Deuteronomy 6:18 says this, "You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to give your fathers,"
...Deuteronomy 6:24: "So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today."
...Deuteromy 8:19 "It shall come about if you ever forget the LORD your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you will surely perish."
...Deuteronomy 8:16: "In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end."
...1 John 5:3: For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
...At least 3 or 4 reasons:
1. God can see the big picture, and knows best.
2. We are to obey for our good
3. We are to obey, that it may be well with us
4. God intends the end results to be good for us.
5. If we love Him, we will keep His commandments.
6. We will perish if continue to disobey Him.
...Salvation is free, but to be Christ's disciple will cost you your life.
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
(Acts 16:31)
...Whosoever will, may come.

Your quote begins with "Because you have not listened to me..."

Have you been "listening" to God? Have you been doing what He says? Do you read His word to see what He has to say to you, or just to try to mock Him?

Now re-read the whole thing, and imagine how it would go if YOU were the person God was speaking to, starting off again with "Because you have not listened to me..."

That was before Jesus... when there was no perfect sacrifice for sin. God was angry that his chosen people rebelled against Him so often... God was angry at the sin his people commited. Thus, as He was the supreme judge, He had a right to condemn them for their sin. Jesus came as the perfect sacrfice for sin, so that we are clean from all sin as long as we repent our sins to Christ.

What the heck are you talking about?! God does get angry but he doesn't want us to be unhappy.
