It is the only event Jesus invited his worshipers to commemorate.
Jesus had a last supper with his apostles and at the end of it he commanded them: “Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19)
Jehovah's witnesses will remember Jesus just like he commanded. This is an open invitation for everyone to join them in their local kingdom hall and remember Jesus.

In another thread, I stated that many Jehovah's Witness doctrines are the same as mainstream Christianity. Extracting the Trinity and its subsets, and the holiday/birthday things, what would the JWs here say are the things that other Christians would AGREE with them about? Just how long IS that list?

Are the abused, raped, tortured and murdered victims of child molesters a price worth paying for whatever plans God supposedly has for us? Is their pain and suffering a good thing? If it was your child, would you feel happy and grateful that his or her terror and anguish had made a positive contribution to human development?

I think theists have an insoluble dilemma: If they believe in a benevolent deity then they have to regard child molestation as a bad thing because it is clearly evil, but also a good thing because it must necessarily be something that god wants to happen (otherwise it simply wouldn't happen).

I look back to that cross and see that all my sins were laid on Jesus, and that God the Father punished Him in my place.

He willingly accepted the eternal wrath and judgement that we deserve, so that we could go free!

What is your response to this?

If you had the power to make your idea come true about stopping terrorists then what would it be? How would you handle this situation?

For me, I came across this website:
http://www.muslim-refusenik.com/index.html

There are two saying that got me thinking.

"Muslims are not powerless. We have the power to do what no one else ultimately can. We can stop the violence. But we need to convince other Muslims that this behavior is vile, rather than telling non-Muslims that this is not Islam."

and..

Rather than encourage young people to work hard and find employment, terrorist organizations exploit their suffering, drawing their recruits from the ranks of the poor and disaffected.

So, the problem stems from terrorist organizations recruiting young people. These young men are living a tough life and the terrorist organizations offers them a new way of life.
So, maybe we need to set up good organizations. stay tuned...

No need to "write a book", but I'd be interested in knowing about different traditions. Is there a procession? How long? Do you carry branches, or just palms? Any special hymns? Other interesting stuff?

May the peace of this Passiontide be with you!

It never speaks out against the child molesters

It never spoke out against the Nazis. It even provided the Nazis the names of Christians so the nazis could figure out who was non-Christian.

It never spoke out when the Catholic Hutus killed 900,000 Tutsis in Rwanda in 100 days and even helped Catholic priests who participated in the slaughter to leave Rwanda. Then the Pope, JPII, urged that the murderers not be executed for their crimes but never once offered condolences for the victims.

when christians are celebrating the day they call in the memory of Jesus with eggs and bunnies.

Looks like the day Jesus asked to be remembered has become paganized with the blessings of the church that is supposed to defend the faith.

2 Corithians 6:14
Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?  Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial?

Jesus died on the Passover of Nisan 14 (falls 2nd April this year) not Easter.

Yes I know the chocolate eggs and the long weekend are more important.

If a god really exists then he must have made child molesters, just as he made everything else. It does no good to argue that this god doesn't want them to exist, because in a universe run by an omnipotent omniscient god, nothing could exist that he didn't want to exist (if he didn't want them to exist then he simply wouldn't allow it).

It does no good to argue that people choose to be that way rather than being made that way, because you'd have to already be immoral in order to choose to be a child molester.

It does no good to argue that an evil demon makes people behave that way because a god, being omnipotent and omniscient, must allow said evil demon to do so, and therefore it would still be that god's choice that child molesters exist.

Whichever way you look at it, this god would be responsible.

So, why would a god want child molesters to exist?
