Christianity was the predominant faith of Western civilisation for centuries. The western world created the industrial revolution. It is the industrial revolution that caused unprecedented interference with and pollution of the environment.

A religion should guide its adherents in the one true path of God. It should prescribe a sustainable way of life like the Mormon's lead. Sadly the Mormon's are an insignificant minority.

Could we argue that Christianity's call to go forth and subjugate the earth bears the blame for the desperate state of today's environment. Nature it would seem will never be subjugated.

Atheism is a lack of belief in a divine being(s) of some sort. Because there is no given epistemology in that definition, many Atheists use science. Thus, even if every single scientific theory lost favor, Atheism is not refuted.

For theists in particular, the point of contention is not, "Science versus the Bible." It isn't one or the other, if one goes down the other wins.

Atheists seem to understand this. What will it take for believers to understand this as well?

And if you believers are out there that read these sections and understand the issue, could you say something? Your fellow believers might listen to you.

Leviticus 27:28-29 "Note also that any one of his possessions which a man vows as doomed to the Lord, whether it is a human being or an animal, or a hereditary field, shall be neither sold nor ransomed; everything that is thus doomed becomes most sacred to the Lord. All human beings that are doomed lose the right to be redeemed; they must be put to death."

For a while I've seen a number of people kept comparing their God to someone elses God while defaming that guy's God and at the same time glorifying their own God.

Basicly, "My God is better than your God" syndrome.

You know when I was a child, there was this snotty nosed jerk who would always go "my dad can beat up your dad", yep. No one liked him.

I guess he grows up to be these kind of people, or perhaps they never grow up at all.

So why is it that these people still have this syndrome?

Of course everyone knows my dad can pwn everyone elses dad ;p

Exod. 22: 29-30, "29 You shall not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. The first-born of your sons you shall give to Me. 30 You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me."

Num. 31: 40, "40 And the human beings were 16,000, from whom the Lord's levy was 32. 41 And Moses gave the levy which was the Lord's offering to Eleazar the priest, just as the Lord had commanded Moses."

Exodus 13:2 "Consecrate to me every first-born that opens the womb among Israelites, both man and beast, for it belongs to me."

Genesis 22:1-18 "Take your son, your only son – yes, Isaac, whom you love so much – and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you."

Even the Crucifixion is viewed by the early Church as a ritual human sacrifice of a perfect first born virgin son in order to appease the anger of the sky god.

If Jesus and God are the same and he was not really the son of God, then how do you explain certain lines in the Bible?

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"
(Luke, Chapter 23, Verse 34)

It would appear from that line that he is talking to himself. Please clarify this to me.

You have to admit that if you don't come from a Christian background that the concept of the trinity can be confusing to outsiders.

Thank you for your answers.

I just got a calendar as a gift from a superstitious girl.(Kind of wierd. For example, she wouldn't tell what she dreamt untill noon or something....) I'm asking this question since it's quite rare thing to have calendar as a gift, you know.....
By the way, the girl had wanted me to be her boyfriend and I refused... I have a feeling the gift's meaning has something to do with relationship..
