Trust

The centurion that sent his servants to Jesus to petition a healing to his beloved servant said, "...only speak a word, and my servant will be healed." The centurion understood the power of authority, and that Jesus was given all power and authority in Heaven and Earth. He trusted that all Jesus need do is say the word, and it was done.

The only way we can know if we chose the right faith is when we die we get to see what happens. But Christianity has the harshest punishments for being wrong. your wrong you go to hell forever, not just a really long time, FOREVER. Some others just believe you rot in the ground. some like Hinduism and Buddhism believe you get another chance, and all good people get good things. Islam believes if you don't believe their religion you go to hell, but not forever. forever is only for the worst. so if you are a good christian (meaning you are a good, charitable person too) and that turns out to be wrong,y no harm no foul- you still win in the other religions, or you just go in the ground. Oh yeah there's that puerto rican who thinks he's Jesus and believes everyone goes to heaven (look for the primetime ABC series "the outsiders" on their homepage or something). so most of the foundation of faith is that if you're wrong, you're screwed. plus some very convincing figures throughout history (Moses, Jesus, Mohamed, Buddha, etc.).

God proving to those who trust in Him that their faith is not in vain. You could also say 'the evidence of things not YET seen. But with prayer and faith, the things that were 'not yet seen', become manifest. Faith gives substance to our hopes, NOW---before we see our hope fulfilled. Without faith, our hope has no substance.

The foundation is Jesus Christ , The Creator, who created all things seen and unseen, the faith is beleiving His words the Holy Bible.

If the whole book is read and the words meditated on You can see that He tells the truth and He is only Good, that His book is inspired of Him and predicts what will happen in our lives, how we will act, what we will do, how it all began and will end, how to conduct ourselves to be pleasing to Him, He loved us first. It all boils down to each individual (His children)
making a choice, the world or Him, His love.

Faith, trust, belief...all of these go hand in hand.
The foundation, for the Christian faith, the One we trust and believ in, is, of course, Jesus Christ.
You must believe in Him in order to trust Him. You must trust Him in order to have faith in Him.
That faith is the evidence of things not seen.

I think faith basically boils down to wishful thinking. People believe what they want to be true regardless of whether or not the evidence supports it.

Faith isn't evidence, it's belief in the absence of evidence.

Schneb nailed it, and the judges reward him with a 10.

But the judges then disqualify him for the edit he snuck in after his one word answer. Sneaky theist.
