I could say I get the same answers when I pray to my begonias and hyacinths.

Why are not such prayers simple reflections of naive superstitions?

I'm thinking along the lines of "using only the Bible to back up your assertions is not particularly compelling", but any type of advice is welcome.

If not, then why do you feel the need to tell the world that God is not real?

We say yay, you say nay!

Same thing... we are all apart of a 'belief' system... and you are just as eager to preach as we are!

It seems...

Before you didn't exist
Now you live
You will die

What connects all of these together and whats makes the difference in between? If you have the answer than you have your God and purpose.

I just had someone quote 2: Tim 3:7 as a reason not to learn and study texts outside the Bible.

Don’t you see what is wrong with celebrating ignorance?

Can you please explain this to me?

I sometimes get the feeling that the existence of extreme christians and muslims is some sort of cosmic joke...

As an Aspergian, I find a lot of what "normal" people do to be irrational and ridiculous... though I have mostly got used to just ignoring it, and even understanding why they behave so oddly...
... Yet I still cannot fathom for the life of me how anyone could be so entirely in denial of reason as to accept theistic religions as any sort of truth. Afterall, how can someone who needs to put aside reason to justify their beliefs actually make any use of reason to live by (and it is an essential part of being a member of the Kingdom Animalia)?

The last remaining shred of agnosticism always plays up at such times, when I think about it... suspecting the Universe of foul play and causing me to look around for any cosmic signs of a practical joke set-up.

Afterall... I can only assume that if there were a god, it put the christians here as an example of how not to be.

the non christians are as followed and yes they have gods too trust me i know they are real too.

hinduism believes in millions of gods
buddhist believe they can become a god
pagans believe in many gods as well
spiritualist pagans believe in a creator god
satanist believe satan himself is a god
muslims believe in a god too
daoist believe in a god of nature or nature is god

i dont want to hear the famous line "the name of god is the name of all gods" because to me thats one of the biggest lies i have ever heard.

I have been exploring the eternal security of the Believer debate. It seems to me that if someone believes in the Conditional Security of the Believer then they find scriptures that seemingly back up their point of view, and if someone believes in Eternal Security they also have Scriptures that back up their point. But what I don't see is scripture that clearly refutes the other point without doubt.I still follow the Eternal Security POV.

If I can do anything to blow it then it is Christ + Works. There's nothing that I can do that's good enough to earn salvation. I, a sinner, saved by Grace am in and of myself totally depraved and nothing I do is good enough to earn salvation. The arguments I've heard so far talk that people who believe in Eternal Security keep on sinning, what people who believe in Conditional Security don't? Are you sure you've confessed all your sins? Have you confessed every sin in your thought life? Have you confessed every person you've ever failed to forgive?

ok, so from christian answers from recent questions, i've discovered that they would rather die and let their children die, than convert to another religion.
now, what if you were put into the postition (through terrorism or whatever) that you had to either kill yourself, or your only child. suicide is a sin for which you go to hell, as is murder, but knowing you can repent your sin and still get into heaven after murdering your child, which would you do?
please don't give the answer "it's not that simple" because it is that simple if you're under the control of some crazy terrorist as my question implies.
i don't mean to be morbid or mean, i am just really trying to understand some of your values. thanks

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Matt. 7:7-12)

If God does not answer prayers for peace, in the Middle East (as noted by answerers to my earlier question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgDYCTnpi1I2Wmek_42i2End7BR.?qid=20070326080508AA89jWy ), what does the above scripture seek to impart?

If Jesus Himself was baptized by way of water, why not us? He showed us by example how it was to be done. And then after the day of Penticost, Peter told us what we need to do. Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

PS:Glad I could be the first to post your name in a question LOL!
