... in life. Alcohol, drugs, sex, just to name a few. Their self-judgment makes them carry such a guilt that the idea of a Christ that will forgive them and accept their sins, is a very good and plausible comfort. The religion and and the Bible brings them the compromise to spread the word, give their testimony and save other souls. Religion made them feel good about themselves again and they want to share that with others. However, those born and raised as Christians, when teens, tend to question their belief, because parents forced them to go to church, not even giving them the chance to think by themselves. When they are adults though, if not sunk in fear, they might change their religion, search for others possibilities or become atheists altogether.

Would you agree that there is a big difference here between Christians converted after a life of sins and those born Christians? Would you agree that their convictions are far apart?

Do you believe in a live and let live for all religions? Do you hold a sometimes tolerance (ie, it's ok as long as group A and B aren't involved)? Do you hold a belief that it's only for your belief and every other religious ideal should be tossed off the planet?

For the record, this is your belief, not your neighbors.

I have a lot of respect for athiests and I understand and agree with the scientific principles behind their beliefs. With that said, why do some athiests have to resort to insulting religious people? Wouldn't it be more productive to gently, politely and respectfully air your differences with them? That MIGHT change the believers minds - insults NEVER will!!

Now I went to Catholic school from 1st-6th grade. I went to mass (as was manditory) and was even an alter boy. Don't really remember much about the faith/teaching, I was raised in a Pentecostal church. So needles to say BIG difference LOL! But my question is, why do you all pray to Mary and other dead people/Saints? Take no offense please...Just wondering.

Do you think Man's laws or Man's own concious is what keeps him moral?

Or is it GOD's law and way of life he has shown us in the Ten Commandments and Jesus' teachings?

Do we not steal-Because it is agaisnt the law? or because of the commandment by GOD?

Do we not coomit Adultery-Because our belief in God's Commandment on Adultery.

Do we not Murder because of Man's law or GOD's Law?

If God's commandments were not taught in the Bible, Would Man's law be enough to keep People in line and moral?

When asked a question Jesus says there:
- "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
- King James Version

Jesus here says that the Father knows more than the Son does. If Jesus were part of Almighty God, however, wouldn't he know the same facts as his Father?
Doesn't this show that the Son and the Father cannot be equal?
Also, what about the holy spirit? If it is part of the same God as the Father, why does Jesus not say that it knows what the Father knows?

My question is about this scripture only. In other words if you believe that they are the same or co-equal how do you explain this scripture please?

Is the true religion? If you think about it. It is the longest mainstream religion, it has survived through more trials and tribulations then most other religions yet it survives and prevails. This isn't a question saying judaism is the true religion but what if they are?

I went to a religious funeral not long ago, and the minister was preaching about Jobe for like 20 min or longer. Didn't think he'd ever shut up. I thought it was a little rude that he spent more time preaching to the grieving about religious things instead of focusing on the dead person. I've decided I don't want ANY preaching at my funeral if that's allowed. I haven't been to a funeral where they haven't read from the bible though, is that something that ever happens?

If you understand this question you just might understand why atheists aren't atheists because they hate god.

Isn't it crashingly obvious that atheists don't think there is any kind of 'life after death'? Even the phrase itself is an oxymoron! :-) Death is, after all, the cessation of life, by definition.

[edit] Original text of the article by Elizabeth Hope:
“ . . . He (Charles Darwin) waved his hand toward the window as he pointed out the scene beyond, while in the other hand he held an open Bible, which he was always studying.
‘What are you reading now?’ I asked as I seated myself beside his bedside. ‘Hebrews!’ he answered – ‘still Hebrews. 'The Royal Book' I call it. Isn't it grand?’
Then, placing his finger on certain passages, he commented on them.
I made some allusions to the strong opinions . . . on the history of the Creation . . .
He seemed greatly distressed, his fingers twitched nervously, and a look of agony came over his face as he said: "I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything, and to my astonishment, the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them."
Then he paused, and after a few more sentences on "the holiness of God" and the ‘grandeur of this book," . . . he suddenly said:

Does anyone believe in prophecies or even destiny? i'll tell you why i asked that question, apparently since i was born i been so many people have been saying to me that i have a bigger role to play in my life and that it is in my destiny to bring balance between the good and evil. last week when i was sitting at a bus stop some old lady that i saw for the very first time in my life said that she saw bright wings behind my back as though i was an angel and that i will have to play a big role in the upcoming apocalypse. i mean im only 22 years old, and ive been hearing this all my life. Its only recently that i stared believing this. What exactly is happening to me? or have i been watching too many films. For real, is this normal? am i normal? Will i have to battle Evil? or am i on the Truman Show? whats your opinion...??

I see more labels here than I have ever come across in my life. I'm searching for answers..have called myself agnostic...but am I really when I believe in so many different things...the only thing I don't feel is right for me is organized religion. The catholics scared the catholic rright out of me. The Christians have shown so little mercy for someone searching I have no use for them. I believe in the possibility of God...God's...Godesses. I believe trying to be as good of a person as you can be is the plan. When you aren't try to make up for it as best you can.
I love the occult. Have/do practice witchcraft (white). I believe in celtic beginings. What am I???? Do I need to be lumped with others??? I never felt the need to belong...just to be accepted. Must we be an ism???

Or else this means some of his children are: Crack whores, murders, rapists, theifs, baby seal clubbers, starving, without food or fresh water, without clothes, without proper health care, diseased, pimps, drug dealers, alcoholics, addicted to drugs, liars, criminals, women beaters, dead beat dads, child abusers, kidnappers, George Bush, suicide bombers, pedophiles, nazis, homeless, suicidal, alone, in jail, gangsters, etc, etc.

Now in most of these cases this would be due to neglectful, or poor parenting (not all cases but do a little research). If God is our Father, then He was been a poor parent to let a lot of His children hurt themselves so much.

I have mere mortal parents and I don't fall into any of these categories, because I was raised well. Yet God has "raised" humanity to become a greedy race who instead of working to unite themselves, would rather fight over black goo. Good parenting.

So can we stop using the God as our father analogy now?

My sis-in-law sent (what looks like to me) a "faith promothing rumor" about Boyd K. Packer of the LDS church telling his family to get their food storage and cash together NOW as something bad would happen in April. Sounds like hooey to me. The only place I can find it documented is on a food storage businesses web site!
