In general it's easier to hate people, see them as sinful, and demonize them by imagining that they must intrinsically hate Jesus and god.
Christians often have this psychological issue where their morals conflict with their beliefs. Many of them (the moderates anyway) can't accept that good people could go to hell for eternity, they have difficulty believing that moral people (like Ghandi) are doomed for eternal suffering for simply not believing in their god. So their mind distorts their perceptions, makes them think non-believers hate god and are inherently selfish, evil, arrogant, etc. just so they can sleep at night.

Well, if all would follow our loving God's commands, then there would be no starvation, raping, molestation etc.. The sicknesses of the world all come from sin. Whether that be my sin or someone else's. Doesn't matter. We have a free will to do good or harm and we reap the consequences. Without free will, love would be meaningless. Does God allow bad things to happen to good people? Yes, He does.
As Hank Hanegraaff puts it: God is neither a cosmic rapist who forces his love on people, nor a cosmic puppeteer who forces people to love him. Instead, God, the personification of love, grants us the freedom of choice. Without such freedon, we would be little more than preprogrammed robots.
If God allows disease in my body, it is for me to draw near to Him, to not see the sorrow in it, but what good comes out of it. Because we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. I was molested as a child and have used this to learn forgiveness and to love my children. To help someone else in the same situation.

Same reason that non-christians always think that christians are trying to convert them. A few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. After hearing a lot of uneducated fundamentalists rant at me, it's hard to remember that there are many intelligent, well-spoken Christians in the world that I would love to have a debate with. Just like it's hard to listen to all the ranting "there is no god and you are stupid" non-christians. After hearing 20 people call you ignorant for your beliefs, you will take offense to anyone that challenges you.
They don't all actually hate god... but the ones that usually reply to these types of posts are outspoken to say the least. And those are the posts that people remember. They rarely remember the poster that just puts out a point of view with actual facts and lucid discussion.

It's easier for Christians to believe that I hate God because of something bad that might have happened to me, as opposed to accepting the reality that I know God doesn't really exist.

In previous Centuries Christian Leaders sent out armies with long sharp swords to cajole people to transform to christianity. One Pope even dispatched the Vatican knights to place the region that's now Belgium to loss of life for believing in the incorrect version of the Catholic faith. yet lots of the Older Gods survived the massacres and ethic cleansing, even performing interior of many of the Early christian church homes. The Greenman and Fertility Goddesses are in basic terms 2 general useful factors

I don't think christian 's feel that way. They just want people to understand and be saved. They belive that christianity is the only way to save your soul from dying.
God doesn't make bad things happen, it's humans who do.
He lets them because he gave them FREE WILL.
Natural disasters happen naturally because of the planet we live on not because of God.
It's like being a parent. You can tell your children not to touch something or not use drugs, because it'll hurt them, and if they decide to do it anyway, there's nothing you can do or say to stop them.

In short there is evil in the world because humans choose to be evil. God gave all humans a free will. We can either Love God and follow his commandments or we can also choose not to. Basically, God can't eliminate evil without eliminating free will which then also eliminates real love.
So we can either have free will and deal with evil in the world or we can be mindless zombie robot slaves and not have evil in the world.

First off, I am Christian (capital C), I read the Bible (capital B) and I do believe in God (Capital G). Now that, that part is settled, God gave us the greatest gift imaginable, he gave us life. And with our lives came another great gift, this gift being, freewill. Instead of everything in our lives being mapped out, how someone else wants, we get to choose, what we want to do, and when. We're not told when to wake up, when to eat, when to exercize, who to spend the rest of our lives with, that our choice. And, yes, there is a downside, yes, there are wars, crime, rape, and thats derived from freewill. It's how we want to use it. God bless, and good question.
