I have just read a question about why Parents torture and kill there children...And in the answer I seen one woman say that "Why would God let the children be punished..? " I kind of believe in God..But when I hear stuff like this it makes me wonder. My question is, If there really is a God, Why is he letting children suffer? Like children going hungry in parts of the world. Why does he take our loved ones from us.? It's something to think about. Also, Another question, How do we know God exist? How do we know what's in the Bible is true? I so-so believe in him..I do not go to church to have this explained. I feel really weird about asking this.....

If there is no God, then there are no absolutes. If there are no absolutes, then there is no right from wrong. If there is no right from wrong, then there can be no good from bad. So what defines what is "good" or "bad".
You might argue that society determines it. So if society determines that murder, rape, betrayal are okay, is it really?

Congressman Admits He Is "Nontheist"

Secular groups this week praised California Democratic Congressman Pete Stark for being the first openly "nontheistic" member of Congress. Stark acknowledged that he does not believe in a supreme being. The Secular Coalition for America says he is the highest ranking public official to do so.

Let's say that all humans can be traced to the common ancestors of Adam and Eve of Eden. To keep this from getting too technical, let's just say this leaves us with a limited set of DNA. However, we see many more options and DNA sequences in the human race today than what could have been present in only two people.

How did that happen? How did we get more DNA than just what Adam and Eve provided?

What is the intellectual justification for considering the Bible to be the inspired word of God, given how much bad stuff (like slavery) is in there, and how much good stuff (like all of science) isn't? Do you really think that no mere mortals could have written Mark, Matthew, John and Luke? Not even the combined talent of a first-century Virgil, Dante, Shakespeare, and Tolstoy? It seems to me that this textual claim really lies at the core of the matter: either the Bible is a book like any other great work of literature, or it's a magic book. Once one accepts it to be a magic book, I agree that a wide range of religious implications follow; but if one doesn't accept this claim, it seems to me that the basis for being a Christian (as a opposed to anything else) evaporates. Would it really surprise you if God told you that the Bible was a product of fallible, human minds? And if this wouldn't truly astound you (in the way that finding out that George Washington never existed presumably would), how can you claim to be so certain of the doctrine of Christianity?

I've always said I will refuse to go to Heaven, it seems like a silly place with empty worship and soulless minds.

So, I refused Jesus in my heart, because that's the only safe trip to Hell.

In a few months I'm gonna marry my Christian girlfriend. I never thought that would have these consequences:

1 Corinthians 7:
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

I can't even marry out of love without having the threat of Heaven hanging over my head again?

Is anyone celebrating this Sabbat today? How..? My family used to plant flowers, paint eggs and spring clean (which means it may be seen as a concentrated effort to rid your home of the problems and negativity of the past months, and to prepare for the coming spring and summer.) Now we went separate ways and I do this with my children.
I was wondering how everyone else celebrates Ostara?
May the God and Goddess bless you all with fertility, abundance, success, and all things new!

To all the nonbelievers...I am a Christian, I am saved and know when I die, I am going to Heaven.

But, to those of you that believe in nothing, or that we just die and that is it...WHY? I mean I think it is sad to think you live in this world, try to be good, and then...BOOM! That's it...it is just all over. There is no reward for your life. You just die.

Well if you are right, then I guess I have nothing to loose!

But, if we (Christians) are right, then what are you risking?

Why does Hinduism treat women having their periods as something impure and dirty?

Women are asked to take pills to postpone their periods during a ritual, and if they do get their periods during some ritual they are sent out of their house.

In extreme cases, women are made to live in seclusion during their periods and not even allowed to touch any body.

I want to know why?

Do other religions have similar rules? How can women not rebel against such rules?

Rev 5:8 says, “When He (Jesus) had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb (Jesus), each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”

Rev 5:13 says, “And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, [be] blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”

When they discovered Jesus' manger where he lay in swaddling clothes, church people came from all around the world to venerate the holy spot, they came by the bus-loads -- and still do. They even built a church over it, if I'm not mistaken.

Now that they've found his tomb, you'd think church people would be coming from all over. My understanding is that, so far not one bus-load of church people has come to worship at his tomb. Only a few Jews showed up, and even they didn't seemed greatly impressed.

Am I missing something here? Or does it just take time for these things to catch on? I've never been to the Holy Land, but could I get some insight from people who have?

Many on here say the phrase "It is not fair" which really has become a bother...because you are comparing God with man, and that is where you go wrong...
With God all things are fair. He is God! He created us, and made us for a reason, to love and worship Him! His justice is right, and He is Holy and Righteous. Just as we here on earth have a "justice system" so does God. Would a judge here on earth let you go free from your crime because you said you were sorry? NO! You would have to pay your fine, serve your time....But Jesus stepped in, and took our punishment upon Himself! And when you believe and repent of sin, you are set free from hell, given eternal life. So God has given us a free gift through Jesus Christ--and He did not have to! That is love. We all deserve punishment for our sin because everyone has sinned against God (Romans 3:23) But God's love is so awesome He died on the cross and rose again (Romans 5:8-9) So we who believe would be washed clean, given heaven with Him!

and the three groups ARE responsible for the MOST death to other people in the history of humanity!

through Jesus Christ, once you confess your sin and put your trust in Him--and repent (turn away from sin and follow Him) That you are sealed with the Holy Spirit? When someone believes with all their heart, they are saved--after they confess their sins, they are justified by the blood of Christ. (Romans)
But even more incredible, is that God seals us with His holy spirit, so he lives in us! It is his "wonder working power!" as the song goes~
And He says to us who are saved: 2 Corinthians 1:21-22-- 21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Praise God for His Holy Spirit!!
