For the past month or so i have been attending catholic church with my fiance. I am just learning all things catholic form attending. I intend to start the inquiry process of the RCIA after lent. I was never baptized into a relegion, though i have gone to church off and on sence i was a child. Will the process of becoming catholic take longer than someone who has been baptized?

Within your religious beliefs, do you have any stories about a diety impregnateing a human mother, and having a child?

Were any of these stories recorded before the Christian mythologies Jesus virgin birth story.

When a Christian asks a question, why do they all jump on that person like thugs and say they are stupid? My fav is when a Christian asks a question, then all the answers are either insults or bizarre definitions of evolution....as if they all believe that anyone who really understands evolution will immediately pray to their god charles darwin. Has anyone else realized that these people are often living on the margins of society? Their experts in the field are junior high biology teachers who probably got their BA from the local crap college and the rest of them are low-income nobodies that love the ego-trip that being an atheist affords them. Personally, I laugh knowing that each of them have dreams of being "the one" that destroys religion throughout the world. They are the fringe elements of America and cling to atheism because it makes them think they are smarter than the rest of us and that they are really someone important who's life means something. God bless 'em.

Fellow christians keep up the good work. most of you have paid your taxes albeit you could have paid a little extra to help with some programs we up at the top are working on, it would score points with god also. remember go to church, pay your taxes and let us up top worry about what to do with all the money. just keep your mind focused on your religion and live your life for when you die. as for me i just bought part of the cat islands so things are very good for me. i know alot of you are having a hard time but remember....it will be better when you die and get to travel the world like us up top. god bless

There is a story in Islamic history books. Muslims usually quote that story to prove how prophet Muhammad was really merciful. The story tells that prophet Muhammed raided a Jewish village (Khaybar) and captured one of its leaders (with the name Kynana Ibn AL Rabie). Prophet Muhammed then TORTURED that man and KILLED him. On the same day, prophet Muhammed proposed the widow of that man for marriage and they wedded the next day (one day after her late husband was KILLED).

Muslims say that the above story is a proof for prophet Muhammad's mercy. I can not see much mercy in that.

Am I wrong?

Imagine for real you're dying. What's going on inside with your mind? Can you explain what emotions are playing in you with that thought?

Honestly, I am kinda sad, scared, happy and accepting. It's like all ranges of emotions are interplaying in one final episode. And my mind sort of waiting what's next, want to see the whole process.

granted, these denominations would be accepting "Theistic Evolution" and not the undirected "Darwinian Evolution".

I don't mean for this question to be a debate about Evolution itself, merely asking which denominations incorporate some form of Evolution - that is - not the "Creation story" of 6 days and God making the human being out of dust and clay.

The question is also asking "WHY" do those denominations accept this scientific theory (or some form)

Here's something I've always wondered...often you don't see people online for several days, how can you find out what happened to them.

Sometimes it's just a case that they are taking a break. But I've always wondered, if someone were to get truly ill or die, how would you ever know???

No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah. (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him!

Is this a threat? I never promised anything to you, you hateful, lying, evil man. My question? Is this the example Jesus set for you??? You claim to be affected by His teachings, but this is how you act? You attack people for no reason? You are a poor example of a former Muslim, a follower of Jesus and a man.

Without even considering that there is no evidence for any miracles, and that all of the Gospels were written by people born after the death of Jesus... Why were Jesus' miracles so flimsy and useless? They seem like David Blaine tricks and not the miracles of a deity coming to save humanity.

For example:

Jesus brought back a child to life... leaving all the other billions of innocents who had died to rot in their graves.

Jesus walked on water... when there was a boat right next to him.

Jesus turned water into wine... further dehydrating the people and encouraging public drunkenness.

Jesus turned a few loaves and fishes into many... feeding only a small group of people around him for that single meal, and ignoring the rest of the starving world. Hunger is a major problem in the world today.

Jesus cured a few lepers... and left us to deal with leprosy. Thankfully, scientists have discovered a cure where Jesus did not.

As I understand it, Christianity essentially revolves around the notion that we are all the children of God, and that "life" is a proving ground whereby if we accept God/Jesus and repent our sins we'll eventually get to heaven, but if we don't we'll go to hell. With that in mind, I'm a little confused about something I just read - and it's quite embarrassing actually, as apparently "It is so clear that a child can understand it." Okay, that last bit was actually about a parable associated with the verse, but I've got my pride...

So, this verse:
"He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels..."Matthew 13:37-43

Then there's the good stuff about the gnashing of teeth, but I'm out of room. So are some of us born of the devil and damned anyway?

As a man of science, I wonder why atheists refuse to use the scientific method to prove evolution. The scientific method requires scientists to gather observable, empiracle, and measurable scientific evidence, then test, retest, and test over and over again to make sure they have the correct results. Did I miss the breakthrough where scientists observed evolution occuring? Did I miss the breakthrough where scientists conducted evolution experiments to gain empiricle data? All I hear scientists say is that evolution can take thousands or millions of years, so no experiments can be done to truly verify this theory, so we will just have to take their word for it. If I told everyone cars could fly, showed them statistical "facts" to prove it is possible, then showed them the Jetsons cartoons to convince them that it could occur, but never actually created a flying car, would people believe me that cars could fly? They'd call me an idiot, but that is how the theory of evolution formed.
