Well since they are children most likely if they die form their sufferings they will go straight to heaven and all the sufferings would be well worth it, we know God exists by just looking at the world, I mean science has answers but there is some questions that not even science can answer. Theres no need to feel weird about just asking a question everyone has questions that they want answers for. Hope this helps you understand a little better. God bless : )

God does not cause the suffering, people do, I believe that when someone tortures their own child that the child will either die (be called back to God) or be taken away from those people. Do no blame God for the actions of people, it is their free will to choose to torture their children and God can't interfere with free will. People should be helping those who are less fortunate. As far as knowing God exists, believing is seeing and knowing but you have to totally believe without any doubt at all. Do not feel weird about asking any question, asking questions is how people learn.

I can't tell you how many times I have asked myself these questions, too. Let me just say this before going on.
Believing is a choice. I cannot pursaude you to believe, but I can tell you what I believe and hope that it helps you to understand a little more.
First of all, God does not prevent us from making our own choices! Those parents who choose to torture and kill their children will recieve punishment, let me assure you. And the children who were killed are probably in heaven! Yes, they were hurt and abused, but who in this world hasn't been hurt somehow at some time? I think that those children have a special place in heaven, and that those parents will have a special place in hell.
How do we know that God exists? It will take me a long time to go into detail, but I can e-mail you if you want me to, or you can e-mail me at live_love_forgive@yahoo.com
Please don't hesitate to ask me more questions. I have been in the same place of uncertainty that you are in, and I am now a firm believer in Christ.
God Bless.

It's just a book, okay? It's a 2000 year old novel! That's all! Even if this Jesus person was a living being, he had less education than a modern 5-year old! Why would you even consider following the word of a dead guy who was just obvioulsy good at public speaking and nothing more, from 2000 years ago who was less educated that a kindergartener? If you have enough of an ability to question these things then it shouldn't be too hard to see how illogical it is and how it is no different than what cavemen dancing around fires and baying at the moon believed.

Parents that torture their children have to answer for what they do. God cannot control the freewill of man. He can control everything else but decision making is up to you! If you open your heart and accept Him as your Lord and Savior he will direct your paths, but you can choose to not listen to Him. I am a strong Chrisitan and my friend was killed in an accident. I was devestated we were so close. A lot of people would say how could God do this, why would He take a young woman from this earth so soon. He does a lot of things we can't and will never understand. He is God. I know she is in heaven with Him and I am at peace at whatever His will is. God exists, He created everything around you, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Just try it! He is waiting for you to come to know Him, He wants to be your Father. God bless!!!

You have asked too many questions for me to address them all in a short space, so I will focus on the most difficult one that you raised: why does a good God allow suffering?
There is no simple answer to your question (even if we assume that most of the suffering in this world is man-made and could be alleviated if everyone simply gave their part to charity). The short explaination is that God is simply too complex for us to completely understand, and that seems to be the best that we can do, based on the book of Job.
Many books have been written on this subject, and it would take too long to have an in-depth discussion here. But perhaps I can point you in the right direction, if you are willing to spend some time browsing through the articles at these links below:
------------------------------------------
...The existence of suffering in a world created by a good and almighty God — "the problem of pain" — is a fundamental theological dilemma and perhaps the most serious objection to the Christian religion. The issue is serious enough already in Theism. Christianity aggravates the problem by insisting on Love as the essence of God; then, unexpectedly, it makes a half turn and points to the Mystery of suffering — to Jesus, "the tears of God."3 Lewis does not propose to penetrate the mystery. He is content enough with approaching pain as mere problem that demands a solution; he formulates it and goes about solving it. "If God were good, He would make His creatures perfectly happy, and if He were almighty He would be able to do what he wished. But the creatures are not happy. Therefore God lacks either goodness, or power, or both." With a characteristic conciseness and clarity Lewis sets the stage for the entire book in the first paragraph of Chapter 2. "The possibility of solving [the problem] depends on showing that the terms 'good' and 'almighty', and perhaps also the term 'happy', are equivocal: for it must be admitted from the outset that if the popular meanings attached to these words are the best, or the only possible, meaning, then the argument is unanswerable". In the remaining nine chapters, Lewis will develop this basic statement through an in-depth reflection on divine omnipotence, divine goodness, human condition, human and animal pain, and last, but not least, hell and heaven.
The main argument of "The Problem of Pain" is preceded by a presentation of an atheist objection to the existence of God based on the observable futility of the universe. The book starts on a personal note: "Not many years ago when I was an atheist … ". There follows a compelling picture of a universe filled with futility and chance, darkness and cold, misery and suffering; a spectacle of civilizations passing away, of human race scientifically condemned to a final doom and of a universe bound to die. Thus, "either there is no spirit behind the universe, or else a spirit indifferent to good and evil, or else an evil spirit". On the other hand, "if the universe is so bad, or even half so bad, how on earth did human beings ever come to attribute it to the activity of a wise and good Creator? […] The spectacle of the universe as revealed by experience can never have been ground for religion: it must always have been something in spite of which religion, acquired from a different source, was held". But, where should we look for the sources?...
--------------------------
...Frank Morrison, a British lawyer of the 1930s, undertook an expedition to collect circumstantial evidence to disprove the resurrection. Such evidence, of course, is admissible in all courts of law in civilised countries to prove or disprove events of which there are no living eyewitnesses. When he analysed the evidence, he reached a stunning conclusion: The resurrection had actually taken place! Morrison presented his case in his book, "Who Moved the Stone?"
Another factor worth considering is the character of the disciples. They were eleven cowardly men who shut themselves in a room after the crucifixion because they were afraid. Yet what galvanized them into action so that within their own lifetime, much of the thenknown world could hear the message of Christ? Some of them paid for this message with their lives. Would they have done so if the resurrection were a hoax?...
====edit===
"The Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity" is a book by Christian apologist and former journalist Lee Strobel. It won the Gold Medallion Book Award and offers replies to eight of the more difficult concerns people have regarding Christianity:
1. Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot
2. Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true
3. Evolution explains life, so God isn't needed
4. God isn't worthy of worship if he kills innocent children
5. It's offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God
6. A loving God would never torture people in Hell
7. Church history is littered with oppression and violence
8. I still have doubts, so I can't be a Christian
"The Case for Faith" is the second book in a series of books written by Strobel on theological topics. Other books in the series include "The Case for Christ", "The Case for a Creator", and "The Case for Easter."...

If you're the President of the United States, why would you let your citizens suffer? You can't be everything to everyone. Bill Cosby once said:
"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody"
It's not a question of Good God Bad God, it's simply a question of life.
If death, torture and hunger didn't exist, people would find something else to call 'bad' and blame it on God too. People just need to accept responsibility for their own actions and allow others that same responsibility.
I'm sick of hearing "How could God let so many people die during the Holocaust?" it wasn't God that killed them; it was the Nazis that did it. What, did you expect God to extend His Holy Arm from Heaven and back-hand the mofos? Come on, let's get real here.

I just read in Matthew about people who harm children Jesus tells us that each child has a angel who stands in the presence of God Him self, And any and all who harm our children are going straight to hell! And the Child is in the prescience of god in Heaven, So they don't have to face the hell of this world no longer, It is not God allowing the children to suffer it is we the people who are allowing it and causing it be cause they are filled with Satan's spirit not Gods, And the world suffering from hunger, is not Gods choice it is up to us we the people of the world to feed the world. God has allowed some to become very rich, but what are they doing, with their wealth He has allowed them to have, they store it up, and save to make more off what they already have, Every famous person that is very wealthy, Could feed this world, and they choose not to. I do My part, as one person, but one person cant get it done it is a world matter and all that is own this world, And when you wonder, about God it is your faith that is week and being darkened by a spirit that is of Satan not of god, People who's spirit that is filled with Gods spirit, dose not do these things that is how you identify who's spirit is lead by Satan or gods spirit,Yes their is a God and he lives with in me and their is never ever a time when I would say to someone is their really a God, Gods "true" spirit is working through a very small amount of people that is why all these things are going own, And the resion our loves ones pass is so they will be set free of this world and the temptations of this world, It is up to ones self to choose, Heaven or hell, that is why it is so Important to prepare ones self for death and to prepare our Loves ones that death is a new life for some, who did not doubt God and that Jesus is the Son of God, you need to feed your spirit by the wisdom of the Bible and go to church to keep your spirit, renewed, and for the teaching of the Bible, and dont question the existance of God, only an evil and faithless generation would ask for a miraculous sign but the only sign Jesus will give you is the sign of the prophet Jonah, What is in the Bible is true because it is the wisdom of God, You need to check your spirit and learn the wisdom of right from wrong, You are openly denying Him to others and to your self you beleive so so much in him, Your faith is week, and you are confuseing more and more people with such a question, First you are blameing Him and in the end you are so so bleiveing , Sweetie, your spirit, is confused and you have confused many others I am sure of it, because you are confused, Always trust in God and His words, God bless you and All
