I don't believe this, but I am not Christian, so I will tell you what I've been told on the matter.

Supposedly, the woman's responsibility is to submit to her husband's will, but the husband's responsiblity is to make decisions based on what is best for his wife and family.

That may have worked well when women were weak and always pregnant and largely uneducated, but I personally don't think it is particularly relevant to todays women.

Yes the man is the head of the house and of the wife, and we should be submissive to him as he should be submissive to God.
And when we are submissive to our husbands, we are being submissive to God as well.

Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

Roles for the husband:
Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

Ephesians 5:28
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

Roles for the wife:
Ephesians 5:22
[ Wives and Husbands ] Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:24
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Colossians 3:18
[ Rules for Christian Households ] Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
