might i reccomend watching the discovery channel this year, instead of believing in your murderous sky pixie?
All you do is try to convert buddhists, and hindus, and discriminate against us peaceful atheists with you 'book of life'.
You should be ashamed, you dirty hippocrites! You start wars, and laugh at gay people. Why don't you go to your heaven, to leave us with peace? Go get laid or something! (oh, that's right, your pedephile priests already took care of that for you)

I am not an atheist, BUT A RELIGION HATER!!

To determine the validity of the metaphor as a tool of God, I set up an experiment. On the premise that God would not want us to misinterpret his Bible.

There's my metaphor. It's about the Brits flooding the Chinese market with opium. Interestingly enough, no one understood it was a metaphor pertaining to Marx's mention of religion being the opiate of the masses. My comment could have had nothing to do with religion or everything to do with religion.

Proof that no sane God would EVER EVEN CONSIDER using metaphors in their "word." Metaphors are completely illegitimate in law, for precisely the above proven reason. They are an inconvenient tool for communicating ones meanings.

So stop using metaphors as an excuse. It pisses me off. It's even stupidier than "the devil did it" and that's saying something.

This is from an AP article about disagreements within the "Christian" right wing political movement:

"Just this month, Focus on the Family founder James
Dobson and 24 other top Christian conservatives pressured
the National Association of Evangelicals to silence its
Washington director, the Rev. Rich Cizik. The reason: Cizik
tried to convince evangelicals that global warming is real."

I can understand Christians expressing concerns about things they think are immoral like abortion, homosexuality, even evolution.

But why should "religious" leaders be so vehemently against the possibility of global warming? Did the Bible say anything about global warming? Did Christ preach against it?

Or is this another example of so-called Christian leaders trying to flex their muscle, force their world-view upon all of us, denounce science, and most important, protect their own economic interests (or those of their friends)?

What other reason could there be?

Face it- I'm sure everyone has heard one or two Mormon/Utah jokes, unless you live out of the U.S., and with the 2008 Presidential elections, Mitt Romney, a "Mormon" is running as a Republican canidate. This might stir up controversey, and so I was wondering what your thoughts were on how Latterday Saints are represented.

..seems like any time he intervened in mans affairs, it is to judge them for punishment &/or the destruction of them. When did he ever do anything good to help a society for the betterment of all involved? Seems like anytime something good happened, it is because man himself done it, with no help at all from the god.
when did the god himself do any good for anyone, without destroying something or someone else in the process???
inquiring minds want to know...

I am getting so confused about what branch if Chrisitanity I belong to. I was not baptised, I never attended chruch, but I believe in God, and that Jesus was the son of God, and all that stuff, but I heard that would not make me a Caholic because I was not baptised. My parents were Catholic, but I don't belive I am. I am not an athiest, because I believe in God. People just tell me Christianity, but they won't tell me what sect of Christianity.

I have a problem. Over the course of my life, I have tried several religions. From Islam to Atheism, whenever I tried a new belief, all I did was find it limiting. It's hard to explain. With each religion I found a new happiness. With Islam and Christianity, it was a loving closeness to Allah/God. With Paganism, it was a deep connection with nature. With Buddhism, it was a glimpse of true peace. With Atheism, it was the scientific superiority of knowing I was right.

However, with each religion, I felt I couldn't access the other parts of my spiritual health. It was if I was in a cage, trapped, unable to reach my full religious potential. I just want to know, what should I do?

The obvious notwithstanding, more than half of us have, at some point or another, been hoodwinked into believing this particular line of reasoning. The fault lies generally not with the believer, or even, as in the case of some rare instances, the one perpetrating the myth. What it really comes down to is a willingness on behalf of both parties to engage in a form of, for lack of a better term, "mutual encouragement", that leads to a blurred line between fact and fiction. I think in most cases, malicious intent is a secondary factor, if it exists at all. My primary concern, of course, are those situations wherein malicious intent is a significant contributing factor to the speed with which these ideas permeate our culture.

These are trying times, and I hope people are adequately equipped in terms of both foresight and insight to determine the difference betweeen rational discourse and a pep rally.

I'd love to know what you guys think of this matter.

Isaiah 40:3
“The voice of [John the Baptist] one crying in the wilderness: PREPARE the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway FOR OUR GOD.”

Matthew 3:3
“For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘PREPARE the way of the LORD;
Make His paths straight.’”

SO IS JESUS GOD?

Understand this verse?
Matthew 6:24
"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

I know many should know this verse, or have heard it--but do you really understand it? It is a great verse.
