Intelligent design only proposes that life on earth was intelligently created. It doesn't adopt evolution or any other particular theory onto itself. Essentially, "intelligent design" is a pseudoscientific way of saying "creationism." It's just a mask and device to make the idea seem a bit more appealing and reasonable. But, intelligent design and creationisms? They're the same thing.

There is a difference. Creationism is the belief that God created the universe in seven days as written in the book of Genesis. Intelligent Design in the belief that evolution was guided by a higher power, which may or may not be the Christian God.

'Intelligent design' should have a wee TM after it.

You could use the term loosely, to describe the sort of concept you put forward above. But it's actually a sort of brand name for a particular version of creation and evolution that is severely flawed from both theological and scientific perspectives.

In most of the arguments here, it's this specific version that's being criticized. Atheist statements are included largely because 'Creationists' tend to start out their questions with 'To all atheists and evolutionists'. My interest in evolution is separate from my lack of belief in anything you might call God.

Einstein replaced right into a deist at magnificent. So, why debate? the people who shrug their shoulders and say, “What enormous difference does it make if God exists or no longer?” are in simple terms displaying that they haven’t concept very deeply about it. If there is not any God, then there is not any perfect Being to which we could provide an account—no Judgment Day, no Heaven or Hell. If it really is only a great cosmic twist of destiny, then there is not any such element as morality (there is not any incorrect or proper, no strong or evil). it should be no more advantageous incorrect for the risk free to struggle through than for the solar to burn or the ice to soften. we could continuously in simple terms stay with assistance from the putting forward, “devour, drink, and be merry, for the following day we die.” because once you die there is no longer something and under no circumstances something mattered. because the rivalry of Dostoevsky’s personality Ivan (paraphrased), that if there is not any God, each thing is accepted. yet when there's a God—nicely, that’s a distinct tale. Are we an twist of destiny or a twin of God? Are we with out purpose or have an eternal purpose? can we stay like an animal or like a baby of God? in the top, is it dirt or eternity? ought to or not it really is because the nicely-prevalent atheist, Dr. Richard Dawkins, has suggested that life has no more advantageous purpose than to perpetuate the survival of DNA. The universe has “no layout, no purpose, no evil and no strong, no longer something yet blind pitiless indifference” (God’s software function). Is that actual, or ought to or not it really is something else? to allow you to be conscious of the actuality, i don't be conscious of why people communicate about something else?

Intelligent Design is creationism in a Walmart lab coat. It tries to say that basically, life is too complex to have evolved. It is pseudoscience and many scientists of the Christian faith are running away from its silliness.

We all know that the universe was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Intelligent design is the idea that God had a hand in our evolution.

Creationism is the belief that God just created us, and that there was no gradual evolutionary process involved.

I happen to think both are total crap. Let's just believe in science!

Intelligent Design implies that the world was created by an intelligent creator. It doesn't refer specifically to God or Evolution.

Intelligent design means different things to different people, but the notion of a divine guidance is a common thread. The hook is that you do not need a guidance for evolution to occur, and furthermore it is provably useless to suppose so. Because "intelligent design" is irrefutable (there is no way to demonstrate that it does NOT occur), that theory can predict nothing: it is useless, and cannot be considered a part of science.
