What in your opinion is more credible: The Rapture or an Alien Abduction?

I just watched the film called "Unidentified"
http://www.christianfilms.com/unidentifieddvd.htm

and it posed the same question, suggesting that alien abduction was a demonic ploy to prepare new agers and occult practitioners for the aftermath of the rapture.

Far out story ;)

So how do you see it?
What's more credible from your point of view, The Rapture, Alien Abduction or both?

PS. Hope to hear your input on my second question as well, and I will provide scripture for its basis.

As an atheist, I have wondered if I would be a happier person if I had come to the conclusion that a personal God exists that listened to me and could affect my life. It would be great to look forward to a continued existence in Heaven after death. It would give me a reason to say, "at least I have that to look forward to" during hard times.

I think some believers are leading a happier life than they would have if religion had not been in their lives... So to them (from an atheist's perspective), did it really matter that they believed in something during their lives that doesn't exist (i.e., can never be proven)? And maybe they might've been better people because of religion. This would seem to indicate they chose happiness over ultimate truth (unknowingly)... Sometimes I wonder if I had unknowlingly come to this conclusion if I would be a happier person (but I'm generally pretty happy overall).

Your thoughts (religious + nonreligious) appreciated...

I hate how people say that if u believe in god then u cant believe in reincarnation and the big boom.

Honestly i think that god created the big boom. To create the universe. Then created the earth

why cant there be reincarnation too? Maybe reincarnation is what the devil does?

Does anyone else believe that some of these could be put together somehow?

(im christian methondist and trust me i love church and everything im just wondering)

hi, i have a friend who used to make crazy claims about islam that i can not believe is true (the friend is a muslim by the way) and i wanted to check if it was true or not. (i'll post the claims and you can tell me true or false)
1. Islam is older than Christianity
2. If you do well in school/job you do not have to attend mosque
3. black people can not enter heaven even if they are muslim (which can not be true since there are many black muslims and they would not stay muslim if that were the case, but he insists that it's written in Qur'an)
4. American system spread false information about islam(claim being that wikipedia and english based sources would lie about islam)

personally i think school thing is his ignorant excuse for not going to mosque without loosing face, and he probally has no clue what the Qur'an really says. and he is racist idiot who does not want to be caught lying, but i can't be 100% sure since i have never read the Qur'an myself.

So many Christians seem to feel that because of some esoteric passages in the bible (which can be interpreted many different ways) it is acceptable to treat gay people like second class citizens. There are also passages in the bible stating that you should not charge a poor man interest (Exodus 22:25), so why aren't these Christians upset about certain banking practices? Do they just pick and choose which causes they are going to be fervent about? Do they hide behind their religion so they don't have to admit that they are just bigots? This is not directed towards all Christians, just the ones who are so zealous when it comes to demeaning gay people.

When I was younger and still a Christian, I always thought of Heaven where everyone is happy and content.
Even back then, I wondered how that was possible. People are so different, it seems to me that there's going to be contradictions and paradoxes.
Of course, then I figured it would make sense when I got older, but I'm still wondering that question today.
It doesn't really matter to me anymore, I'm not a Christian anymore and I don't believe in Heaven, but I'm curious.
How can there be a true Heaven where everyone is totally happy?
(By the way, if I'm wrong about anything or said something offensive somehow, please let me know)

Of the Catholic people I know, they don't seem to mind using the Lord's name in vain. A catholic woman I work with says 'Jesus Christ' about 20x a day whenever her computer freaks out, or when the copier messes up....whatever. Is there something about Catholicism that says it's alright to do this? Just curious.

I have been wondering about what some of your experiences have been like living in a world where most people believe in God or a Higher Power. If you feel that I'm being nosey please accept my apology and skip this question. I would be interested in how you would handle situations such as a family prayer. I'm sure you have been in positions where people just assume you are a Christian and ask you to pray with them etc. Is there a certain shock that you expect when you tell them you don't believe in God. My sister is an agnostic and as far as the family goes she goes along with family prayers before meals, she shows respect to Mom & Dad. How do people react when you simply say: I don't believe there is a God or the bible. I know most Athesit are very nice people who wouldn't go out of their way to hurt someone or insult them. Is it more of a personal silence that is easier rather than dealing with the difficult explanation. Do you face anger with some?
Your experience..thanks
