I invited some friends to dinner, and since we are all of the same faith, it was no problem that grace was said before the meal. Before I could say the blessing, however, a guest took it upon herself to turn to another guest in front of everyone and said, "Will you voice the blessing for us?" He did, without asking if that was what I wanted. (But maybe he thought that's what I wanted, too.) I felt it was rude for her to take over like that, but didn't want to make everyone uncomfortable, so let it go. But am I out of line for thinking she was a tad out of line? Thanks for your help.

Today I had to check in 40 books and then check out books for 30 kid books because I'm a library aide. There was one very nasty kid who kept making snide remarks about me. The computer wasn't working and I had to type each kid's name in and then check them out, and it was taking a long time. I kept apologizing, and he said "You hear that, she's sorry?" to the person who happened to be checking out their book. I ignored him. He then said "God, you are slow. I could do it faster than you, and I don't know how to work the computer." to which I ignored as well. My breaking point was when I said "I'm really, really sorry. The computer is messing up." He looked at me and said "Are you sure it's not operator error? You seem kind of stupid." I smiled and told him "Shut up or be polite. I'm doing the best that I can. You can leave if you feel like it." He shut up and glared at me. How would you have dealt with it? I wanted to smack him, but I didn't want to get in trouble.

I got a package today. It was a mink wrap from my grandma. It was absolutely beautiful and very thoughtful of her, but I don't know what to do with it.

I don't wear fur, and I only wear leather because the cows are going to be killed for food anyway.
I love it and I love her, but I get sick when I think about the minks being raised to die for my clothes.

Please believe me, I'm not spolied. I've never owned anything this nice in my life...but I don't know what to do with it.

...and the drive was about 20 miles one-way, and doesn't ask you to pay for half the gas cost, would you offer? Or just take the free ride?

Loud music is if you want to dance. If I go to a sit down restaurant where the only thing you do is talk with your friends, why would they play loud music? This makes no sense to me. Is there a special pleasure of not being able to hear conversation? Is screaming across a table enjoyable for some people? I don't get it.

a garbage bag....

Since the chicken bones will stink if she leaves them in her house in the garbage, she puts them in the freezer until it is garbage day pick-up so that she can stuff the garbage bag full and maximize the use of her garbage bag.

Have you ever heard of anyone doing this?

I am applying for a job. I know the HR woman's name but I don't know whether she's married or not. I feel it is too casual to just write her first and last name without a title in front of it. What is the proper etiquette?

I work as a receptionist/swtichboard operator, and today has been a very bad day indeed. I'm getting into trouble because of some phone calls that have been coming into the office.

The first call that's been causing problems is an elderly client who needs to speak to one of my co-workers urgently. I've sent him e-mails and even told him in person to call her back ASAP but she keeps calling and saying he still hasn't gotten in touch with her! The last time she called, I made double sure he was in his office before I transfered the call. HE STILL DIDN'T PICK UP! And I'm pretty sure the client is blaming ME for it!

Here's the second problem. Anytime I'm away from the phones, I push a button that makes calls ring to other people in the office so that they can answer for me. I've made double sure that I've done this all day today. A very big and important client claimed he called twice this morning and no one ever answered. Guess who's to blame? ME!

What's going on? What do I do?!

My cousin Gus joined us for Thanksgiving dinner after several years of going to upscale restaurants for Thanksgiving.

It was nice to see this fellow again but right before dinner the strangest thing happened.

It was announced dinner would be ready in 5 minutes & Gus went to his car and brought in 3 large Tupperware containers. I though nothing of this until he actually starting filling them BEFORE dinner was served. The biggest container was filled with 3/4 of the stuffing that was prepared. He also did not hold back on filling the containers with slices of turkey. Other family members had to go without stuffing because of this.

The whole family was flabbergasted & did not say anything. I can assume they were in complete shock.

Gus is well off & certainly does not need all this food.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? What would you have done in this situation?

He said he'd be back for Christmas dinner, what should I do if he tries to take all the ham?

I am deeply in love with the most wonderful woman in the whole wide world, and last weekend I decided to "pop the big question!" Well, I made reservations for a nice restaraunt, and everything was going perfectly. My beloved (who is a very large woman, think Mimi from Drew Carey and then imagine a woman that dunked her in bacon grease and swallowed her, that would be pretty close to my little lovebug) really likes to eat so I thought I would combine our love with her love for Chocolate cheesecake and had the waiter slip the ring (VERY EXPENSIVE! but i got it on sale!) into her piece of cake like they do on the movies. I forgot though that she doesn't chew when she eats and she ended up swallowing the ring whole! I was mortified! I didn't mention my plans to her because I want things to go perfectly (i love her so much.) So I've been diggin through her feces the past few days to salvage the ring, and yesterday she caught me and she's gonna leave cause she thinks i'm a deviant! Help!!!!

Hi, my kids go to an in-home day care. There is a main care giver (it's her home) and she employs a full time helper. So both ladies are with the kids full time. Should I give them the same gift, or add something extra for the main lady?
