how is typing in all caps rude? i was gonna tell everyone that i had a very tasty cheeseburger last night for dinner (it was quite delicious) and i was gonna type it in all caps, but then the evil yahoo people were like "Please do not use ALL CAPS. It's rude" and then that got me thinking so i was like "HOW IS TYPING LIKE THIS RUDE."
can someone please explain to me?

In 'E' language typing in all caps denotes shouting!!!

Typing isn't like speaking. You can't hear a persons tone of voice when they type. At some point, it became generally accepted that in order to show that a person is yelling, what is being "yelled" was typed in all caps. It's just one of the ways that people have come up with to express more emotion in what they type.

Well that means that ur yelling when you type caps...so now people today just think if you type caps that your yelling and its rude...but people have different beliefs...i feel like if you write something mean in caps like SHUT-UP maybe that may be rude but if you just go I LIKE THAT TOO i see nothing wrong at all...so just ignore them but don't get to rude because that is there belief

I think typing in either all caps or all lower case is rude. What's wrong with using proper structure? Sure makes a sentence easier to read.
In general caps are meant to stress an idea, like I am NOT trying to be rude.
Now if I say I AM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE, it's all stressed which is way overdone thus sounding rude.

usually when people type in all caps, it's like you're yelling at them in the internet world. U don't think that it's annoying to see a bunch of caps? When I see em i usually take it as an indication that someone is very very ANGRY or just a little too EXCITED!

lol, this has happened to me, I never realized typing in all caps was rude either. But when you type in all caps it just means that you think the person is less than bright enought to understand what you mean without having to type in all caps. I personally could care less! Type how you want to, but now you know when you want to offend someone use all caps!!!! :)

I think it means your yelling. But some people type with out any punctuation (!) and some use it. You just don't see many people type in all caps. Again,I think it means your yelling. Still, I am trying to type with a cat on my lap so who knows what I am doing wrong :)

Typing in all caps is seen as shouting...best use caps with restraint, like the cheeseburger was GREAT!

Typing in ALL CAPS is considered YELLING TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS. See what I mean? It's not just on Yahoo either, so check your typing etiquette.

It's the internet equivalent to yelling. Also, it can be difficult to read, especially if you're stingy with your punctuation marks. I generally won't even take the time to read a post if it's in all caps, unless it's just amazingly interesting and short.

I am not aware that typing all caps is like yellling.When experienced people say take it in good spirit .It is always good to follow the words of wisdom. In my opinion yahoos words are wise and i will follow them.
