I got a package today. It was a mink wrap from my grandma. It was absolutely beautiful and very thoughtful of her, but I don't know what to do with it.

I don't wear fur, and I only wear leather because the cows are going to be killed for food anyway.
I love it and I love her, but I get sick when I think about the minks being raised to die for my clothes.

Please believe me, I'm not spolied. I've never owned anything this nice in my life...but I don't know what to do with it.

I don't want to give it back and seem like I don't appreciate it.

My grandma lives across the country, so she might never get the chance to see me in it, but I was going to send her pictures of me wearing it.

I have clothes from my parents that I have never tried on, and don't want to wear them. It's hard to tell someone that the gift they gave you will not be worn, so maybe you can do what I do, just say you have it, and you place it away so it will not have any damage done to it. That way, she will think you are actively using it, and won't think anything else of it for a while. Later on in life, you may change your mind and remember the sentimental value of it, and decide to use it.

OMG! I know exactly how you feel! I love mink coats, but I refuse to wear any animal besides cow for the very same reason. I would have to talk to grandma and explain it all to her. It's so expensive, you can't just let it sit in your closet, and she might want to see you in it later on. At least if you tell her right away, she may still be able to take it back or send you the receipt so that you can. It's so tempting though because they are sooo pretty! They're prettier alive, though.

Yes, send her a picture of you wearing it with a lovely Thank You card accept it graciously and If you think you'll never see her, you can locate a local furrier and get a estimate as to its worth( find out first, call, to find out what that will cost) you could sell the wrap to the furrier or a different furrier after you get the estimate, or, you can donate the wrap to charity, or, you can buy a special fur storage bag and hang on to it for awhile( furriers also will store your fur, but there will be a fee)

I certainly wouldn't return it to your grandma, she might be offended. I don't think lying is good, but why don't you store it away for your children in the future. I think personally if you return it, it would look ungrateful. Nice gesture of grandma though.

Find out how to store the wrap so it doesn't get ruined. Maybe some day you will change your mind and will be happy to have it.

Sell it or give it back so your grandma could exchange it for something else.
