They can look, but why do they interrupt my enjoyment of food to discuss my eating. I think it's impolite. I answer them, but haven't figured out what to say politely to make them stop. What do you think?

I recently moved back to the town I grew up in. When I was growing up, there was a guy who was always bugging me and asking me out, even though I wasn't interested. This guy recently discovered I'm back and is now coming around where I work (I have a part-time job at a convenience store alongside my regular job). He tries to flirt and asks me to hang out. He's even asked me for my cell phone number. (Subsequent question: What's a polite way to NOT give him my number?) Anyway, how do I let him know I'm not interested?

Should the paper come over the top of the roll or should it hang down the back against the wall?

BTW, should I have made this question females only? I know males don't know how to do this task.

I can put up with alot but this kinda made me mad. This was on Monday night. I just moved into my current apartment and I live on the first floor. The people above me last night were loud and carried on untill 4am. I had my Windows open and they must have too because you could hear them having sex, it was loud! Then afterwards they were slaming about opening and closing closet doors. Sounded like a heard of elephants.

I just moved here so I don't want to seem like a complainer but this crossed the line.

I thought it was just coincedence, but after the third time, I got mad. It is always the same call: neglect. This last time, the police were called when my daughter wandered over to the next aisle!! I know who she is, by name, and have never met her, but what started it all, one night, late , i was with my kids, and the frozen food aisle was crowded with carts. i asked my daughter,4, to stay close by me, so she wouldn't get hit by a cart. The woman, with her hubby, was at the other end of the aisle, and immediatly opened her cell, and began to punch numbers. i paid no attention, it wasn't my business. The police show up, and the woman points to me, I shrug my shoulders, and go out the door. the police did not stop me, and I thought no more of it. Now, 3 monthes later, every time i go in wal-mart, I get a call from social services saying neglect, even though my kids never leave me or my hubby's side. i havent gone to the manager yet for fear he will side with her & not hear me out.

My co-worker bought a gift for our boss who received a promotion. The gift cost $60. She did not check with any of us before buying the gift to see if we would want to chip in. She is now asking all of us to pay $10 towards it. Would you pay the $10? We are already going out to dinner, is this too much?

Interested to know your thoughts on what is reasonable in the way of manners.

How many of you would gladly offer your seat on the bus or train for an elderly person or pregnant woman?

How many of you hold open a door for someone or even say thankyou if someone does this for you?

I think these common courtesies are not being taught to too many of our children these days.

Below is a copy of a letter that won a competition in UK as complaint letter of the year...have a laugh and
read on.
Complaint Letter of the Year. The British do have a way with words.... A real-life customer complaint
letter sent to NTL (to their complaints dept....)
Dear Cretins,
I have been an NTL customer since 9th July 2001, when I signed up for
your 3-in-one deal for cable TV, cable modem, and telephone. During this
three-month period I have encountered inadequacy of service which I had
not previously considered possible, as well as ignorance and stupidity
of monolithic proportions. Please allow me to provide specific details,
so that you can either pursue your professional perogative, and seek to
rectify these difficulties - or more likely (I suspect) so that you can
have some entertaining reading material as you while away the working
day smoking B&H and drinking vendor-coffee on the bog in your office:

favours, i.e. asking for very large sums of money, or asking to come and live in your house. It is o.k. if you wish to give them the money from your own heart or wish to accommodate them at home. I used to end up doing these things for everyone because I couldnt say no and thought that the other person would be very humiliated. I just wondered, etiquette wise, is it rude to refuse someone. I never ask anyone for a favour as I feel the other person may not be happy to do it, or may not be in a position to do it and too scared to hear the word no from them. How do you feel when some one asks you to do something. Do you feel that you should give in to other people's wishes, no matter how you feel and not hurt them, or should you weigh up the situation in your mind for some time and then give them the reply. Someone said, that rather than say yes or no immediately, always say that you would like to think about it, thus deferring the situation, but that doesnt work either.

Say like if you open a music CD & play it & then decide you don't like it, is it wrong or OK to give it away? Some people view it as low-down & dirty because they figure it should be unused & unopened.

See so many people eating like this and it looks down right slovenly and low class. Even people on the food channel eat like this. They eat with their mouths wide open and keep shoving it in and laugh and yell out loud so crudely as if the audience enjoys watching them eat like with such disrepect for the food and the people preparing it. Do other people out there notice the lack of good table manners on TV and elsewhere?

Ran in to an old friend from school today and I had my children with me who are both half hispanic. And well the old friend was prolly not realizing what she said but the words that came out of her mouth were " I see you never got with your own kind" while looking at my children. I wanted so badly to ask her if I am some kind of dog that has its own breed. I makes me so mad that people look at my kids like I ruined the blood line of white people. My children are mine no matter what. I don't know how to politely tell those people that because my children are half hispanic I consider them double blessed because they get the oppertunity to enjoy two caltures. Please help me with the words to tell these ignorant people.
