I always buy my own paper so that I have all the sections and the crossword puzzle. What do I say to people who walk up to my table and start digging through the sections, assuming it's the community paper?

I spent sometime professionally as a cartoonist, so I got paid to see the humour in things. However, people of late have gotten so overly sensitive about everything it seems to me. I especially notice it when visiting Y!A, people tend to take issue and find offense in the most innocent remarks or turns of phrases. So here I am, wanting to ask a question concerning something that used to be considered mildly amusing but afraid I'll get a violation instead of honest answers. Hopefully people will see some validity in my question to not have that happen. Here goes.

It would be funny, in an ironic sort of way, if you met someone whose last name fit their occupation. Such as if they were a chef and their name was Cook, or a bank teller and their name was Clerk. In this way it's funny because they opted to choose a job which matched their last name. But it also used to be funny in an ironic way when a person's last name happened to be associated in some way with who they happened to be.

I've always worn mine out of habit, but I recently found out that there's a VERY good reason to do so -
If you don't wear one and you're in an accident, your body is thrown up against the front of the car and then whiplashes into the back of your seat. The problem is, as you're moving backward, your internal organs are still moving forward - again causing whiplash that breaks a lot of spines and causes internal organ damage that KILLS you.
Gross, huh?
Was I just living under a rock by not knowing this?
And does knowing this information make a difference in your decision to wear a seat belt or not?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I have an odd question. My husband was in and out of the hospital for the last seven years, great amazing man. During his numerous stays we had a great priest stop by all the time. On hearing of my husbands death he called me with the usual courtesy calls. I asked him to attend my husband memorial as a guest, but yes he did do a little speech. My question is this, is it proper to ask a priest out to lunch? I know it would be awkward if it was just a regular guy, but is it proper to ask a priest out to lunch? Peace all

I have a friend, I love her dearly, but she has no manners and routinely uses words like "mouff" for mouth, "teef" for teeth and says things like "is you" instead of are you.

It's embarrasing, and I'm embarrased to bring her around my friends and family. How can I break it to her that this is unacceptable?

I think ADD/ADHD is the body reacting to a generation
of people who are responding to a family/culture shift

The school is longer, classes are longer a day
(7 instead of traditional 3)

sport figures are Gods, and your a nobody if you don't play
sports, or cheer for the "Gods"

Cheerleaders are drinking/on drugs
Could this be because all that time on who's popular
isn't all it's cracked up to be?

Remember when there was no ADHD
you know
when people had time for each other, and we could
just breath, sip tea, and TALK to each other?
Now, everyone wants to put out fires

time management is a JOKE
I'm glad women have a choice to work now, and I have been single, and I know how hard that it to be a single parent, but
should we really work if we don't have too when our kids are young?

i think hispanic people have the right idea
at least they are home with their
kids when they are young, even if some do live off the system

Their kids = nurtured OURS = daycare

He's a nice guy in general...but the way he speaks to me is condescending and rude. If he's walking by and I call out to him to ask a question, he'll just keep walking...even while he's answering. And the majority of his requests sound like "You are going to do...", "I want you to..." ect....rarely a 'please' or 'thank you'. If I send him a message via IM, I will not get a response...It's as if he can't be bothered. I am getting fed up with being spoken to in such a rude unprofessional manner. Do I confront the boss?? Or look for another job??

I feel really uncomfortable dropping in on people without calling first. So I don't understand why people do this.
Practically, it is not the best thing to do because what if the person you want to visit is not home, or they have guests for dinner, or they're sick?
Perhaps I'm just self conscious, but calling first just seems the polite and thoughtful thing to do, even for relatives.
What do you do?

To make a long story short, I inherited money 8 years ago from my father, I wasn't expecting it and how much either. Since that time my relationships have greatly changed, nearly all of my friends, family have at some point asked me for loans, gifts and just fun money. I couldn't believe some that have...even people at church including my "former" pastor. I did quit my job after this, I just wanted to persue the things I liked, I wasn't rich before this I made around 80k. I make many times this on interest alone and wanted to do things that I liked. You never know whos real, I feel like I'm in a fish bowl of amusement...I'm always shocked when people ask me "How much do you have" I always ask them how much is in their checking account? I bought a house in Maui last year...it's the only place I go that I'm not asked for money, all my neighbors are rich and don't care. I do give, friends, family & charity, several million per year...but it's really not what most think.

wisdom anyone

So they leave rest room after grabbing penis to use urinal. Then they walk straight to the buffet and grab a serving spoon and serve themselves a large glob of mashed potatoes and gravy. I am still behind them in line (but i washed my hands). Am i safe to grab the same serving spoon to get some potatoes too? I have been using a napkin to wrap around the serving spoon prior to use. But people think i'm a bit crazy.

How do I avoid a handshake without seemed rude by female Westerners? What should I say to them? What professional gesture should I replace my handshake with?

Imagine you (a female Westerner who loves to shake hand) try to shake hand with me and I avoiding it. What should I say to you?

A. Stealing another person goods that actually is theirs or
B. Stealing from someone that which belongs to you.
In my opinion I would think that A is appropriate but to steal back what is yours is taking and not stealing or robbing. But to harm or endanger then that is another issue. I would like the opinion of others to coninside with what they think.
