To make a long story short, I inherited money 8 years ago from my father, I wasn't expecting it and how much either. Since that time my relationships have greatly changed, nearly all of my friends, family have at some point asked me for loans, gifts and just fun money. I couldn't believe some that have...even people at church including my "former" pastor. I did quit my job after this, I just wanted to persue the things I liked, I wasn't rich before this I made around 80k. I make many times this on interest alone and wanted to do things that I liked. You never know whos real, I feel like I'm in a fish bowl of amusement...I'm always shocked when people ask me "How much do you have" I always ask them how much is in their checking account? I bought a house in Maui last year...it's the only place I go that I'm not asked for money, all my neighbors are rich and don't care. I do give, friends, family & charity, several million per year...but it's really not what most think.

wisdom anyone

You have to look at it this way.Sure I think we all know being rich isn't a magic cure to all life's problems, but just imagine what it's like to have to worry about how your going to be able to afford this and that. The stress of money worries can take a horrible toll on a relationship and on an individual.Alot of days that shouldv'e been enjoyed have been ruined by the added stress of money worries.Life is definitely less stressful if you have more money, if it's managed the right way.If your worried about being begged for money then just hang out with other rich people lol! I know it sounds shallow but it's realistic. But even then you can still be used so you need to follow your instincts about people.

Well although I am sure that is very true, you are living in one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Its alot easier to have then have not. Scraping together the money to pay your bills and having to budget. Not being able to get the things you want unless you want to rack up your credit card even more then it is. Or how about the families that cannot afford to feed their families. Trust me. You are in a good place. You can give if you wish. I would if i had it. Its all fine to say oh money doesnt buy you happiness but it sure can make it alot easier..Hey can I borrow a couple of....

By the sounds of it, you are trying to be nice when you give the money out to friends and family, but they sound like they want to take advantage of you. You are right, being rich doesn't mean you have endless supplies of money and doesn't give them the right to think that you do. I think people don't appreciate that money is the result of hard work of someone and they don't have the right to just "ask" for it.

Being from a poor background and being taught by my family never to waste and scrimp and save, I understand that wealth is a precious thing which must be treasured and is only worthy for you if you worked for it. The hard work you put into it will make you treasure it and use it wisely.

It sounds like yours is a good problem to have. I would rather have your situation than one where I am hungry, don't have cleans clothes to wear and have to sleep at the Salvation Army homeless shelter.

Since you have so much, why not set up a charity foundation and use your extra money for people who really need it. "It is better to give than receive." And I really believe that.

Sometimes I fantasize I could be wealthy if ONLY to leave the people I am around....like a permanent world vacation away. I guess everyone is different, eh?

Or....

How about Q.U.I.T *********.I.N.G....things could always be worse....?

Not to mean any offense of course.

Maybe I can...build you a bridge and you can get over it?

OK. I am done being a smart @ s s.

Good luck with your terrible life situation.

Don't feel for you, sorry. It's better that your problem is that people are asking you for money and not that you're starving and don't have a dollar to your name . . . and other people in the same situation are asking you for money! That's how my life was growing up so I'd love to switch places with you!

With money comes responsibility and frankness. The ability to be comfortable being a dick is a must in my opinion if you have money.

You need to get to that point.

I have money only because I saved and worked for it. I wouldn't enjoy it as much if inherited.

Being rich might not be all that's it cracked up to be, but neither is being poor. As my dad used to say,
"Money can't buy happiness....but happiness can be rented"
