I'd ask them, "what's your answer?" or "do you have a better answer?" (pertaining to your question) ...
In worse case scenario, you should say "Awww, poor thing!" to the person who made the comment then begin ignoring them and continuing on with the person you were addressing.

Depends on who says it.
If it's my sister then I say "It's stupid because you don't know the answer or can't explain it."
If it's a little kid then "There's no such thing as a stupid question."
If it's a rude boss/co-worker then I tell them "If you can not answer it, then I will ask someone else."
A stranger - "That's a stupid answer."
Usually people who say that do not know the answer and are trying to hide that fact by making you look stupid.

I would be mortified. I remember when I was a very small child, my grandmother asked a question and I said that to her. I was so embarrassed because the whole room went silent and she just glared at me. I learned my lesson on that one...but I was 5. Anyway, if you get that I would look at that person and say "excuse me?!" Its just rude.
