Where you all from?

I work as a tour guide at a Museum, and give interactive tours all day. I have guests that come up and ask me some of the stupidest questions. For example, we have an ENTRANCE sign right by the front of where the tour starts. Guests will ask "Where's the entrance?" Gee, maybe where the entrance sign is? They also ask things like "Where's the bathroom?" when there are signs that clearly say BATHROOMS right in front of them! So last week, a family of four come up to me and ask "Where's the entrance for this tour?" Mind you, Im standing Right in front of the entrance, with the Sign saying ENTER HERE next to me. So I replied "Right where it says entrance you morons!" I said it sort of irratated, but still trying to smile. The lady reported me for rudeness, and I was fired later that day. Even though I told my story and claimed they should have known where the entrance was. Why was I fired for simply putting these idiots in their place?

This happened to me when I was young. I hated it. My aunt meant well because she thought I would like it. I had a turtle collection (not real ones). I was afraid to even touch it. I can't remember what I said. It was polite, but inside I wanted to scream. What would you have done?

I realize that i have issues i need to work on such as: i feel like i degrade myself by saying cuss words, i tend to take things personal and snap back at whoever, and also tend to judge people too soon before i get to know them.

I'm sending thank you cards for people who came to the funeral and those who sent flowers for my dad's recent funeral.

Question is should I send a thank you card for people who sent me condolences cards too?

I'm a doctor in a small town so I got hundreds of cards and I don't know if I have the time.

But they are my patients and I feel like I should send them a card.

I guess I'll just have to take the time to do it, so I'm not sure why I'm even asking the question.

What do you think?

My son (17) was invited to a graduation party - and was asked to bring 30 (yes, 30) hamburger patties. Now I don't think the hostess is taking advantage of him - but she, like my son, is in a special ed class for children with mental disabilities; and I do sincerely believe that she assigned one food to each invitee with no thought as to the cost. I admire her parents for allowing her to have the full responsibility of the party planning - but I'm not sure if they know how she delegated the food. And it seems to me (am I wrong?) that the hostess would supply the "main course" while guests bring "sides". He was unwilling to express his concern to his classmate - and he'd rather die than have me talk to her or her parents about this lol. So we've decided, for now, that we will get the cheap bulk patties (about $12 - and I feel bad about the cheapness of the burgers), and he'll do some chores to "earn" them. This cripples my too-small food budget ($65/week). Any better way here?

I'm just wondering people's opinions.

When you eat out, how much does the appearance of the server make you want to tip. Of course, keep in mind the service was excellent.

Say you go into a restuarant, each week. Each week, you order the same food, get the same drinks and have the same WONDERFUL services.

One week, plain jane is your server. Again, she provides great service, but is a little less attractive. She's short and overweight. Her hair is neat, but just not attractive. She's got no makeup on and her features are a bit sharp. She's not someone you would find cute or attractive, but she's nice and gives good service.

The next week, you receive the same WONDERFUL service, this time by a very attractive young girl. She's got nice, well groomed blonde hair, flattering makeup, she's tall and lean.

How do you react to each server. If you're bill is $30, would you leave server A $5, but maybe give server B $6

One of the person's I used to work for found my profile on myspace, and has been messaging me ever since. He helped me get through a tough situation I was going through - this was a year ago. Now he emails me asking how I am and making small conversation. His last emailed included this: "When I get back, I'm going to LET YOU take me to dinner."

I'm not attracted to him, he's married, and he is my former boss.

My new job is making me pass a credit check. I going to work in a bank. If I do not pass, I don't get the job.

I know the reason is because people with bad credit have the potential to steal from their employeers. However, isn't that discrimination?

I don't think I'll pass. I have bad credit, yet I would never steal. That's just wrong. I made mistakes regarding my credit and I must act as an adult and fix it. Stealing would only make my life worse. I would get caught and then have bad credit and be in jail.

Do you think it's wrong to discriminate against bad credit? Isn't that similar to saying, b/c someone is a certain race/ethnicity they have a higher chance of stealing. That woudl be racisim.

Why do people usually start their statement by "...With ALL due RESPECT...", while the following statement clearly shows such disrespect?

Are they just saying that to avoid law suit, follow etiquette, or what?

should have a "pass" that means they have priority in a queue at the weekend over people who could go anytime in the week?(e.g. saturday morning in the post office or barber/hairdressers)
im sorry but i get well p*ss*d off when i go to the post office or barbers the only day i can and i have to queue up behind 2 dozen retired people , fulltime housewives and anyone else that could simply go in the week!
why do they have to go on a saturday???
this could work for shopping at tesco's etc . "express till for the employed"
i think this would encourage those who can to go at other times to ease the pressure of britains already over stressed workforce.and would give everybody more time

All right, an older businesswoman and I were on a casual lunch and we were eating at an establishment I am quite familiar with. I made a suggestion of one of the specialties then after explaining it, she expressed interest in trying it then. I asked her if she wanted it then, and she said yes. So, when the waiter came around, I said her order along with mine. She then commented afterwards that a lot of men won't do that kind of thing anymore, regretting it. I have always seen this as one of the things a gentleman would do. So, I have a few questions.

Ladies, how do you feel about a man ordering for your table if he knows your order? Why?
Gentlemen, would you (or do you) do this? Why or why not?
And both, what is your general opinion on ordering for your date? Where does it stem from and what would you do in this situation?

This is a cross question, I wanted to see how the Dating people would answer, and the Etiquette ones. I do not believe that posting this twice is "excessive."

I'm going to work in Mcdonalds when I turn fourteen which is in September. The place that I am going to work in pays 8.50 an hour. People are always saying that Mcdonalds is a horrible place to work in. My sister worked there, and my mom when she was younger worked in burger king. THey all say its fine. My mom says you shouldn't be ashamed of where your work, your the one thats getting payed, and not being lazy all day watching tv. I think its true what she says. So my question is should i work there, and do what i feel is right or dont work there because i know its not such a good place
what do u think>?

I've been seeing a man for about three months. He's a single dad with two teenage kids. I was thinking about buying him a small token for Father's Day.

I think it would mean a lot to him because so far in the relationship he's the one that wants commitment and a serious relationship. He even wants me to meet his kids but I told him that I'm not ready for that.

What do you think?

On Thursday evening 5 young women were on their way to an all night high-school (non-alcohol) graduation party to a popular Sports Bar/Restaurant. I saw my neighbor leave that evening - less than an hour later 4 of these 5 young women were killed on the highway while enroute to this event. Yesterday, while I was at work I got a call from my wife who told me that our neighbor was in the car and that our very young, intelligent, and beautiful young neighbor was killed. My heart went into my stomach, I then began to organize with other neighbors opportunities for this now grieving family to receive meals from us - so that they can now concentrate on arrangements necessary for the funeral.

What I am now trying to figure out is when is the best time to get flowers to send to this neighbor family of mine, and should we as the "tight bunch" that we are come together and send one collective set of flowers or do we do this as individual families?
