How do you ask a girl out to an impersonal gathering, (i.e. going to a fast food place when getting off work early, hanging with friends) when they already have a boyfriend.

When asking, how do you say it when the boyfriend is right there, so he doesn't beat the crud outta you?

I was on my lunch hour and this bully coworker grabbed my napkin, said "now get yourself one" as he wiped his face with it. He had a nice homeade turkey sandwich on his plate so I smashed it with my fist! He in turn punched me in the face so hard that I fell backwards out of my chair. Should he have punched me?

In what situations would "excuse me" and "pardon me" be used?

I would like to explain this to my children better. They are 12, 8, and 4.

I am wondering whether to get my boyfriend a Father's Day gift (or whether my kids should). He lives with us and acts as a father figure to the kids, although he and I are not married. He does have a child of his own, but he gave her up for adoption and doesn't have contact with her. Should my kids get him a gift, or would that be presumptuous? Would he be offended if we DID give him something, or would he be more offended if we DIDN'T? What's the proper thing to do?

I am not homophobic but feel that society is undergoing a fast- paced transformation whereby being straight today seems despicably anarchronistic and frowned upon! Yes, there's no point in doing it if you don't enjoy it! Don't you think so?

Every time I call my utility company the woman is extremely rude. I usually let it go (past 3x's). Today I reacted (badly) to her snotty attitude. Now I feel really guilty. Its not how I handle people normally.

I feel like flying off the deepend about this entire ordeal, but I know that would not help the situation at all.
On Tuesday, I had a flight from Indpls to Miami with a connection in Charlotte. When I first went to check in my bags in Indy, I had 3 bags and was told that I would have to pay $80 for the extra bag. I was told that all my bags were too big to be considered a carry on so taking 1 bag on the plane and checking the other two in was not an option. I gave the worker my card to pay the $80. After about 15 minutes of hearing the guy tell me " your card is not working" I told him that I would walk over to the ATM across the Lobby and get the cash. I gave the worker the cash, and he gave me my tickets. The entire flight was a disaster, and I didn't get my luggage until the next day at the opposite airport they told me it would be at. Today, I find that US Airways still CHARGED my card even though I gave them the cash payment. Whats the most effective way to ***** & get my $ back

When someone interrupts a call THEY MADE TO YOU to take a second call.

My daughter called me Tuesday to tell me Happy Birthday, no card, no gift, no E card, just a phone call while she is backing out of a parking lot. Call waiting signals another phone call, WHAT IS VOICE MAIL FOR ANYWAY, and takes the call (an advertiser) and ends our call after about 30 seconds.

Apparently I did not do as good a job with her as I thought.

The next person who calls me and takes another call in the middle WILL be hung up on. It is truly insulting that another call is more important than finishing the first out of common courtesy.

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

If I turn his alarm off for him, or tap him and wake him up to tell him its going off when it beeps, he says it messes up his waking-up routine of hitting the snooze on his own timing/schedule.

If I just leave the alarmbeeping it goes off for about 25 minutes before he wakes up and turns it off. Eventually he wakes up, but honestly on days when I don't wake up to the alaram and wake him up he ends up getting up LATE more often than not.

I can't stand the noise of the beeping alarm clock. It grates on my brain. So I usually wake up, tap hiim and tell him to turn the thing off (okay, I usually smack him, squeeze him and tell him SHUT THAT PIECE OF NOISY SH--T- OFF!) but either way, the alarm goes off a bunch,. he wakes up, etc.

If I don't tap him or wake him up he turns it off on his own schedule.. which again.. takes usually about 20 minutes for him to realize its beeping (painful for me) and then sometimes he gets up on time, other times hes late.
Should I shut it off or no

One is hosting a society dinner party. During the conversation one of my esteemed guests, the Duke of Effingham, inadvertantly revealed he had been fraternising with the housekeeper, and the Duchess, in a fit of pique, grabbed a piece of the silverwear and stabbed him in the thigh. Offending etiquette, she used the butter knife, when she should have used the fish knife (the Duke is a Pisces); Should I pardon this extraordinary faux pas?

In Our lives. We sometimes have a diapproval or two with people surrounding us. The problem is, not everybody had a chance or even a courage to criticise the persons. It would to rude and offending in some culture.
If they kept doing things that annoyed you, the best thing you can do was talking about them at their backs.Talking right to them wont do any good because they would defend themselves by saying all the crap things.
How do you put things nicely to people?

What do you consider gossip? Assuming you are NOT sworn to secrecy... If someone tells you she is pregnant and you tell someone else, is that gossip? If she tells you the baby isn't her husband's, does THAT make it gossip? If someone has an accident and you discuss that with other people (as in "Isn't it terrible what happened to...?" is that gossiping? Or is it simply being sympathetic and interested in people you know?

Does it have to be UNTRUE to be gossip?

What makes gossip, 'gossip'?
