One of the person's I used to work for found my profile on myspace, and has been messaging me ever since. He helped me get through a tough situation I was going through - this was a year ago. Now he emails me asking how I am and making small conversation. His last emailed included this: "When I get back, I'm going to LET YOU take me to dinner."

I'm not attracted to him, he's married, and he is my former boss.

Don't be too hasty to make this a sex thing. There's every chance he just wants to catch up because he considers you a friend and a meal is a good way of doing this. The whole "let you take me to dinner" may just be his sense of humor. If you're willing, go out for dinner being very adamant about paying for your own food and drink and him paying for his to let him know where he stands. If he tries anything on then tell him that's not what you want and leave.

If you don't give people the chance to dissappoint you you don't give them the chance to exceed your expectations either.

Finding you on myspace is the key to the whole answer. How did he find you: because he was looking! This is NOT a good situation. Agree to the dinner, and invite his wife along. That is appropriate. If he stutters, or tries to eliminate the wife you have a problem; it's called "stalker". You need to defuse this as soon as possible and make sure of his personal intentions. It may be just that -- innocent. But my gut feeling is he's a "wanna-be-player".

Oh dear, the guy obviously fancies you. You will just hav to tell him its never gonna happen, and if he persists, say you will tell his wife

Fortunately these things are much easier to say in writing

BTW the 'let you' part is manipulation
