This happened to me when I was young. I hated it. My aunt meant well because she thought I would like it. I had a turtle collection (not real ones). I was afraid to even touch it. I can't remember what I said. It was polite, but inside I wanted to scream. What would you have done?

To Ruby T.: I liked turtles, but not ones that were tourtured to death. I had a pet turtle. My turtle collection was pins, carvings, etc. I would never harm any animal. Read the question again. Also this is not in the religious section, it is in the etiquette section.

To Kiwi, Judge Judy is wrong on this one.

T Numbskull: I'm not being disrespectful, it's the name you chose, I am NOT a troll, it really happened to me when I was in my late teens.

I would have been horrified and hurt forever, even though, time does soften the emotional hurt. When I was a child, I cared for two turtles that I enjoyed very much. One sub-freezing night it was time to clean their turtle tank. I noticed that their water was cold. Being the caring child that I was, after cleaning their tank, I filled it with lukewarm water. I didn't want them to be cold. I did not know that this change in water temperature could be fatal to them. I lost my turtles because of a child's loving intentions. I still remember my joy caring for them and my horror when I found them deceased.

I'm not sure what I would have said when I was a kid but if it happened now I would definitely be disgusted by any dead animal gift. I'd be concerned for the person that gave it to me. Unless your aunt is Morticia Adams I just can't understand why she would think any kid would like something like that but it does sort of make for a funny story.

I don't think that's so. I don't see how a turtle could have the expression of agony. And it doesn't make sense that anyone would put nail holes in a turtle's feet.
Judge Judy says if it doesn't make sense, it's not so.

Okay, what a strange circumstance.

Etiquette in North America would generally dictate one not present a dead animal in the throes of agony with nail holes in the appendages.

Considering you already had a turtle collection, perhaps your aunt just considered it another specimen.

Welcome to science. Specimens are always dead animals.

Wait a sec, are you saying that because you were afraid of turtles that you killed it and drove nails through its feet? I would say oh my god, a turtle with nails in its feet. And why is this in the religeous section?

Well, if they weren't family, I would beat the crap out of them!

If they were, I would still do that, unless they were someone I have to respect, then I would just never talk to them again.

How can she possibly mean well!!!
How is killing an animal under "a good intention"????

Although I gotta admit, that is pretty hilarious, and a fun thing to do!
