One day, I was at Denny's with friend and there was this old guy that was finishing his meal.
All of a sudden, he starts hacking and coughing and spitting up nasty stuff into his napkin and wiping his nose and I thought I would puke.
I bit my tongue but I really wanted to tell the old fart to go to the restroom.
It's SOOOOO GROSSS

I'm not grossed out easily myself, I doubt I would notice. But it is rude not to blow your nose (which sometimes can't be helped; people with a cold sometimes have to go out and people with allergies definitely shouldn't have to stay out of public all spring, and going to the restroom they'd keep walking up and down all the time) but to be so loud about it! This isn't necessary, I don't know why some people can't blow their nose without sounding like an elephant in heat. I don't for one moment believe they can't learn to do the job a bit more quietly.

Yes, it's disgusting.
I was taught to always excuse myself from the table to blow my nose.
In restaurants, I just try to ignore it.

Yes. Now, I know there are times when it just can't be avoided, but really... you can usually excuse yourself or at least do it more politely and quietly. I don't wanna hear/see/think about your snot while I"m eating something that could remind me of it! YUCK!

I agree but as someone who suffers from chronic allergies what choice does the person have. Its better than just letting it drip and collect. People who don't have allergies have trouble sympathizing. Allergies such big time.

yes. me and my mom got into it once about that.
We were at a resturuant in germany, and
she kept blowing and blowing and blowing and blowing.
I was eating soup. I had to stop and ask her not to do that at the table, my dad was upset that I confronted her, but I had to I was going to vomit,
I hate it.

yeah, it's gross, but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do (especially in allergy season) you don't always have time to excuse yourself and make it to the bathroom, it'll get messy fast. if I have to do it, I always say excuse me when I'm done, and try to be as quiet as possible when I do. ( and no nasal penetration, fingers don't belong up your nose anywhere but the shower!)
