I am attending a funeral but weather is 90 degree hot. I'd like to know if wearing khakis and dark cotton shirts are okay.

If you are a guy, wear a summer suit, dress shirt, and necktie. The funeral will be either in a funeral home or church, which may or may not be air conditioned. If the heat bothers you in church, remove the jacket and loosen the necktie. The only time you will be hot is when you go to the graveside service for the internment.

If you are a gal, wear an appropriately conservative suit, dress, or skirt and blouse, together with whatever dress shoes you might wear to work or to church.

Khakis and a dark shirt may be appropriate for somebody under 15 years of age.

It isn't what you wear to a funeral that is important, it is that you attend the funeral. Being there for the family is the most important thing.

That said, your choice of clothing is acceptable, however, may be a bit too casual. If possible, try a long sleeve oxford shirt - white is okay - with a tie and khakis. Overall, though, it doesn't really matter. Nobody is going to remember what you wore, they will remember that you cared enough to attend.

You're only going to be graveside for at most 30 minutes. Go appropriately dressed and tough it out. I'm assuming that you have A/C in your church and your car so really, what's a little sweat for a few minutes to properly pay respect for your honored dead?

Nothing is MORE humiliating than seeing people come a funeral dressed like they just fell out of bed or are on their way to the beach afterward. It really is insulting to the immediate family (who ARE dressed to honor the deceased).

Wear a white shirt, white reflects the sun. A pair of dark loose trousers, with cotton boxers underneath should keep you cooler. Wear a tie, but tie it loose, so you get a little air down your collar.

Well most people wear black to a funeral but if its really hot, boys can wear shorts and a black shirt and girls can wear black dresses. Make sure the fabric is not so thick and make sure not to wear layers or else youre going to get really hot.

not sure about the khakis but i would wear a skirt and a nice tank top and a blazer. you can take the blazer off when your riding in the car and you may can leave it off when you go to the grave site cause youll be outside. wear the blazer in the church though.
