My last day at my current job is Friday, and my ex works with me. We broke up about 2 months ago. The entire office knows that I am leaving, and everyone is wishing me well. My ex has not even acknowledged it, even though we are not on bad terms. Why can't he simply congratulate me, or at least acknowledge that I am leaving?

I'm writing a reference letter for a friend for court. I've already mailed it in, but then someone told me it should've been signed in blue ink instead of black...is this correct? thanks!

I am planning to write the customer service of a perfume brand to complain about a product I bought from them. Should I type the letter or hand-write it? (my hand writing is far from calligraphic quality, but I can make efforts)

My girlfriend feels that it is completely inappropriate for me to help a stranger with her jacket. I've always thought it was an act of general kindness and an expression of good manners. I'm especially interested in the opinion of other women.

Thanks.

I have never waited tables, bt my fiance does at a fine dining establishment. Tipping in America is 20% for servers and 30% for bartenders, MINIMUM. Why do so many people stiff still? I was shocked to hear it happens in fine dining! How can people have a server who is paid WAY under minimum wage hourly slave over them and then basically steal from them when they have money to buy $100 bottles of wine? If the service is bad that is one thing....but my fiance is very attentive, knowledgable, and polite when he serves. He brings out samples, offers recommendations, and is timely and kind and still has people who spend $400 on dinner tip him $40 after taking up his 8 top table for 3 hours where he might have had more generous guests sit. I get so angry. I understand why tipping is not generally enforced. I have had awful servers a few times, but the more likely situation is that of cheap guests. If you can't afford the 20% tip, DON'T DINE there.

i'm wondering what others think. at work, people seem to want to throw a shower or party for every event (bridal shower, baby shower, birthdays), and automatically, its a spread everyone bring a dish and a gift. or lets take them out to eat and everyone chip in. who thinks you are obligated to do it? is it rude if you decline? sometimes there's co-workers you just don't like, do you still have to spend money on them bc its expected?

I wear alot of different hair styles. I have been approached on several different occasions and asked if my hair was real or a weave. Mostly by complete strangers. I am not bald, so it doesn't matter. I think it is quite rude. I have even seen this happen to other people. Why would someone else care? If you don't think it is rude, is it okay to question people's other body parts, like teeth, limbs and breast? Is it not personal? Maybe they are going through something they don't want to broadcast and there they are on spotlight. If you ask people this, I would like to know why?

scenerio. jack is a friend of jills. jack's a bartender. jill goes there often. jill tips with each beer served vs. one tip when done. jill and another friend had 4 beers wiping out 20 between beer/tip. jills friend had one more. jill paid with another 20 then left to go to another bar. they get there jill realizes she left her 16.75 change on jacks bar. jill called jack right away asking him to leave it behind the bar for when she comes back. told him to keep all but 10 (he has been tipped already) jack says no deal. it was left there it is his. jill thought he was joking but when she went back a few days later on his next shift she asked for her money. he got angry and they argued over who's money it is. she had some valid points. if she left her purse cell.glasses cigs or anything else would he still think its his. since they are friends she can expect him hold it. OR like he says if someone leaves $ he is right to assume it is a tip. tho he's already been tipped. who is right?

I took my children to the park, took a chicken lunch.

The park was packed, the shelter area was packed except one table had a rolled up fast-food bag on the end, nobody there. I told my kids to just set up there. My son asked what to do with the "trash," so without thinking I told him to just toss it in a container.

So we are enjoying our lunch and ten minutes later an angry woman came up and began yelling, asking where her lunch was. I admitted my mistake and told her it appeared to be trash. She continued screaming, then started saying, "that was a tuna sandwhich from ___. Do you know how good those are?" I apologized again and offered to let her share in our meal. She kept blowing me off and repeating the above statement over and over.

I said, "look, I'm very sorry. I have $3 on me, which I can give you, or I'd be happy to share our meal with you."

She flipped me off in front of my young kids. I tried to fix the mistake...what else could I have done?

Wedding next month in the early afternoon (reception at a golf club). Am I safe in a strapless, knee-length dress?

It's multi-colored (not quite floral, but bright and summery) and a great weight - type of dress one could wear out to dinner or dress up for a cocktail party. Unfortunately, I rarely do either and have been dying to wear this dress.

I'd naturally grab a wrap - the colors are all so bright a direct match would be hard, but baby blue or pink would probably be safe.

But I hesitate - is strapless considered inappropriate? Or am I safe?

Okay, so at work we were playing a team building game that involved about 20 pairs of panties (I am in college; it was a funny game). Anyway, at the end we were talking about doing push-ups, and my supervisor, Erin, bet me that I couldn't do 15 in a row. I said yeah I could, and she said if I couldn't I would have to wear all the panties for a month. I agreed, and with everyone watching, I only could do 12. After that, they made me go to the bathroom to put some on right away.

Now I have all of these panties, and I don't know if I should really have to go through with this! I'm a guy! Is this fair? A month is a long time!
