I'm writing a reference letter for a friend for court. I've already mailed it in, but then someone told me it should've been signed in blue ink instead of black...is this correct? thanks!

Can't think why. Black ink is usually preferred because it photocopies better, if required.

The thought is that a photocopier can make copies and it may be hard to tell if the black signature is the original or a copy. So, to ensure the signature is legit, use blue ink. With the sophistication of today's copy machines, I don't think that's the case anymore. (You can get some great color copies that would fool anyone at first glance.) I'd say the reference letter is ok. However, if you are signing contracts, etc...still use blue ink to be on the safe side.

You must sign your reference letter in blue ink or in black ink both are the same as a polite way.But you do not sign it in red ink because it means you are angry. But if it is signed by black ink is better because if it will be photocopied your signature will be seen clearer.

while working with contracts, I continuously do each and every thing in blue. this variety, i will tell the unique checklist from copies. I as quickly as labored at a company the place they required each and every thing to be performed in black ink. Realistically, that's not considerable.

No, black is best. It photocopies more clearly than blue, red, etc.
