Are they that stupid that they don't realize they're being annoying and others don't care to hear they're crap?

It's even worse at our house--we live on a 90 degree curve, so when cars come by blaring their radios, we have to listen to it longer than most. I don't know how they do it, because when my husband blares the radio in the car, I can't even hear it when I step outside it. I think they've mounted speakers so that they intentionally blast those of us on the outside. My husband insists there should be a law that he can shoot their tires out when they do it.

I don't know why they do but you have recourse. There might be a zoning law concerning noise levels which you need to know about, or you can do what I had to do a few times, call the cops and report a neighborhood disturbance. Let them handle it. You may find as I did once that the next day other neighbors of mine were happily buzzing about the someone who had the intelligence to have the police stop the 3 AM noise!

Also, there are cities and towns which have laws stating that if noise from vehicles can be heard 20' away the drivers can be ticketed.

They're showing off. They want everyone around to know they have the biggest, baddest stereo around. 99% of the time I see guys doing this. (If there's a woman involved, she's usually sitting in the passenger seat, not driving.) I liken this to the guys who drive the gigantic Dodge pickup trucks with the Hemi engines, all jacked up, huge tires and wheels--I think they have small penises.

Because they are in their own little bubble. They simply do not care about other people. Or they think that other people will hear their music and thin "Wow, that dude is hot!".

They don't care. It's all about "me, me, me" in the circles that those slimeballs run in.
