I just ordered flowers for my grandma. My last name is hyphenated but I wanted both our names on it. (And grandma wouldn't recognize me without my maiden name.)

So I said "Jane Smith-Doe and John Doe". Is this acceptable or correct?

I want to propose marriage.....but I have no idea what kind of engagement ring she wants, so how does a guy who knows nothing about rings buy an engagement ring? How about proposing marriage, then we both go to diamond stores and find a ring? I plan to spend between $ 1,200 and $ 2,600 or so for the ring.

I am a 100% atheist who moved to a largely Christian community in Arkansas recently. People are always coming to my door, generally Baptists, who are always trying to "save" me. These are neighbors from the surrounding blocks, and I don't want to be rude to them. What can I say to them that would stop them from going on and on and irritating me? As an atheist, how would they like it if I came to their door and tried to force my beliefs on them? These people are nice and I know they mean well, but they are like terribly brainwashed to me and obsessed with some kind of fantasy. They want to leave brochures and even Bibles. One woman has been to my house three times, as if on a mission. She tells me repeatedly I will burn in hell if I don't ask for forgiveness. There must be something succinct I can say to her and the others to get them off my back, and still not be rude.

By not socially responsible I mean if where they were destroying the environment when growing tea, the local communities not benefiting from tea growing e.g. farmers in Kenya, Tanzania or India. Would you buy the tea if you knew that some of the profits will benefit the poor, help with cancer research or provide health care for aids patients in Africa? Please help me find out whether you mind if Lipton is a socially responsible product. Thanks

When people call you to try to sell you something or advertise, whats the most proper way of telling them that you're not interested.

Do you just say "I'm not interested" right at the beginning of conversation? Do you hear them out and then tell them you don't need whatever they're selling, etc. Whats the most polite way?

For my advertising class my group and I are doing an advertising campaign for a local photography compnay. We decided that we're going to concentrate on the wedding section. Since no one in my group has ever gotten married we're at a stand still. SO I was wondering for the people who are married here, how did you choose a wedding photographer and where did you find your wedding photographer. Also how long did it take, what went through your mind and what made you finally choose the photographer your choose?

I'm taking a Health Team class and my teacher is a Registered Nurse so I'm looking for something kind of professional, but very kind and pleasing.

Any ideas... ?

I won't be using the EXACT idea, I just want a few ideas on what I could tell my teacher because this class is VERY important to me since I want to be an RN in the future, so I need to appreciate what she does for me.

Is it just me or do you good folks out there find this just as annoying? I am talking about the new tech support and customer service phone systems asking you to "say" things instead of entering the numbers? Why do they want me to talk to a stupid recording? It's OK at least if they give us the option like "say billing or enter 1". A lot of these systems don't even do that. They just want you to shout out stuff like a moron.

i am pissed at this cashier from a local cvs store. plump (fat) middle aged woman. i said hi and she ignores me. I say thank you after i get my change and , after ignoring me again, throws me that receipt as if she was annoyed.
i am a teen age asian boy (younger teen). could this be racism, or annoyance toward kids, or plain f******* rudeness?
also, should i complain and get that cashier fired or reprimanded?
