this was brought up dinner on friday night. i have always been nice to everyone and am one that would invite someone over for dinner even if i didnt like them. this kindness has gotten me to be used and taken advantaged of. i had someone skip out of paying a months rent and utility bill bc they said they didnt have it and have had other peeps use me for hidden intentions...

the person that said this got me thinking about kindness as a weakness. im not saying it is a weakness for all but for people that dont have too much of a mean streak.

i think kindness can be deceiving too, especially when you like some one.

Someone I know delivers pizza as a second job and he says that when african american people order pizza they never tip. He says he has been delivering pizza for a long time and everyone who has ever delivered pizza before know this and just have to accept that most african americans don't tip. Do they not know they should or do they just choose not to? Once it was raining hard and he had three pizzas and had to walk up three flights of stairs and they wrote 0 on the tip line. I think that is so rude!

What is the minimum wage? If food companies pay their wait staff a decent salary, what would that be? $15 an hr? Or more? Will they make more with the current tipping system of 15%-20%? Say I order a steak and it cost $20. Then 15% of $20 is $3. So in 1 hour, you need to serve 5 people each ordering $20 steak to break even. How many customers can you serve in 1 hour?

Customers shouldn't need to pay for the workers wages, that is not our deal. It is the responsibility of the establishment. Yes I agree that we can choose to reward the wait staff base on their service, but we should also be able to choose not to. A tip, being a gratuity is something EXTRA we give for good service, NOT something you are EXPECTED to give.

Well I do to some extend. But I know that if I get too clingy or nosy and basically rely on them as friends-things might get messy, as you don't mix business with pleasure. I hang out with them once in a while and chat with them-but for some reason I can't bring myself to open more up with them, or actually call them to talk or hang out-for I guess fear that they can back stab me. There is a group and I hang out with them sometimes, but I'm not piont blank with them 24/7-sometimes I wish I was...like they go to someone's party and yap about it and plan stuff and I don't know ; sometimes I'm happy I can set boundaris but still communicate. What do you think?

(This at any restaurant - posh or not) The waiter brings you the bill, he walks off, you pay by cash along with the tip (- the bill is not collected) is it ok just to get up and go ?

You should, 20% if you can get cured, 15% if there is a slight chance of a relapse, 10% if you aren't cured and 5% if you are still gonna die. If you don't leave a tip, your doctor will think you are just cheap.

2007-05-13 05:22:01 · 19 answers · asked by ali 6

So its either you tip 20% or none at all? That is to say since I will get an angry stare if I tip 10%, I might as well don't tip and still get an angry stare!

We have spoken on line but we haven't met. From her picture she's BBW of 5'10.

I happen to be in her home town for a few days soon. She said she would come to my hotel for some quality time. Later she said she had to be home by 11.30pm

When I broached the topic of what we might do she said that she preferred to 'play it by ear' rather than make a plan.

I gave her the opening to cancel but she said she'd leave it to me.

Its obvously not total commitment on her part.

Do you think she'll follow through or is she just playing some game?

For my own part I quite fancy the prospect of an encounter even if its just for a chat and a drink.

I'm a college student and I currently hate my job. Last night I worked a 12 hour shifts and didn't leave work to 2:30am. I have to be at work at 11am, today. I have to work all day and can't spend anytime with my own mother. I have 3 finals due tomorrow, which I have yet to completely (didn't think I would be working to 3am). I want to call out sick to work? Should I? What should I say?

obviously isnt handicapped, say or do something about it....or do you figure its not your business and let someone else take care of it or worry about it? Recently while out shopping I seen every handicap spot filled with either a sports car(the low 2 seater type...not frequented by the usual handicap person)(not to mention no sticker in the window), junk(garbage containers etc), or blocked in some way. I was wondering what i could do to change this. I mean do you call the police, inform the store that owns that parking lot or what? I wanted to do something but didnt know what. Any ideas?

I was in the US visiting my family, when one of my "friends" calls me there from another country asking me to buy him a certain gift from the US. Well, actually, this gift is hard to find where I am from, so I went out of my way to get it for him. My father paid for this gift, and my "friend" told me he would pay me back. This was 6 months ago. The other day, he tries to scheme his way out of paying...by saying, it is a gift, it's not nice to ask for money back for a gift you bought for someone!! What should I do? It wasn't a gift, and he said he would pay me back...How should I approach him about this?

Does this bother anyone else but me? You know, when you ask a question and someone will spend half of their response going over the things you should have done, or how you shouldn't be doing something in the first place to be asking the question. Isn't that just imposing your own beliefs instead of answering the question? Does it even really matter your reasoning behind the question? Is that really their business? Honestly I get some kind of comment like that with every question I ask. It doesn't help me and it usually is someone pointing out something I obviously already know. I know people mean well, but It'd be like asking for advice on how to pull an all nighter. You really want some tips, and then you get a response with something along the lines of "well you should have studied more earlier on" well obviously you know that. You know what I mean?
