I have to use lists and schedules to keep up with everything that I do. Otherwise, I would not be organized and I would miss a lot of appointments. It works for me, but I would not consider myself as "smart." I just do it because that is the way I function the best.

Yes, planning is usually the smart thing to do.
Consider a wedding.....it would be chaos if the
bride did not have it all planned out as there's a
ton of things to have to do (where? When? What
time? Who gets invitations? Dress or casual?
How many attendants and who? It all has to be
planned in advance. Same goes for hosting a
dinner party like what to serve, to whom, when,
what time etc. It all has to be planned in advance.
I prefer to write lists before going to the grocery
as then I don't forget something I need and I don't
spend as much money if I stick just to my need list.

Not necessarily. Planning and scheduling are traits of right brained people. They tend to be more methodical than left brained people. Left brainers are usually more messy, more creative and more artistic. Right brainers are more of the concrete sequentialist types... everything has a place and everything in it's place. Lists and schedules dont make you smart. They make you organized.

Smart. People that don't makes lists tend to be forgetful and can never get things done on time.

I don't think that it is smart, I think its a sign of trying to have some control over your life. I do have lists, I am happy if I can accomplish half of what's on my list :-)

Not only is it an act of "smartness", but of organization and reposonsibility. I couldn't function without my palm pilot.

Well, I guess you would have to be at least smart enough to be able to write.
