i don't mean when you drop a hammer on your foot or when you run into a wall or when you smash your finger in the door, etc

i mean, in your normal everyday convos with friends, do you curse? are you a potty-mouth? do you cuss like a sailor?

i'm seeing it more and more from people these days, and from younger kids. kids who are 11, 12, 13 years old, saying words that their mamas wouldn't appreciate!

i hate it. i try my best to avoid using bad language. i just think it's offensive to go out in public and start cussing about something, when families are all around you...little kids and elderly ladies and stuff. i think it's disrespectful.

what's your take on this?

I don't know why some people do; I'm just wondering.

I'm in my early 50s. I dress very informally for work and social events, usually an Aloha shirt, Dockers, and flip-flops. On weekends I wear shorts, a T-shirt or "wife-beater" shirt, flip-flops, and a visor or safari hat. Often an old dress shirt over it for sun protection, or a ragged sweatshirt if it's cold.

I can act very responsible and adult-like when the situation calls for it, but usually I just don't really give a sh!t whether people think I'm an affluent white guy or a bum.

Friends my age talk about how society is going down the toilet, with young people who don't have any regard for rules or authority figures. I myself have noticed that it's harder to take a cop seriously when he's wearing shorts and riding a bicycle, like they do at the beach.

Look at old movies from the '30s thru '60s, all the men in suits and the women in dresses. Do you think that people, especially middle-aged people, should dress up more?

Sometimes when I write things, people (even educated people) don't read the details. What is the reason? Are most people careful or careless?

I used to be fairly good friends with a co-worker of mine until I left to join another school (I'm a teacher) then we seemed to lose touch. She recently left a message for me saying to call her sometime to say hi. I think it will be awkward what does it mean just to say hi.

I have cousins on the dad's side of my family who have birthdays coming up. They're not poor, just fresh out of college and working multiple jobs to keep things afloat types. Me being slightly older, on more stable financial ground, and a terrible gifter, would like to give them maybe two or three hundred dollars as a present. My girlfriend wants to choke me for coming up with what she calls a simply rude gift devoid of thought. I on the other hand figure its perfectly fine and logically the most helpful gift I could give. I'll admit it also saves me the trouble of thinking about what to buy. Who's right?

My boyfriend thinks it's their job, so they don't need to be thanked but I think he's just rude. Is this how he'll treat me in 30 years?

I quit my job here (I'm a receptionist so very visible) and got a job doing the exact same thing at the company across the hall? I'd literally be facing my old co-workers! They look so much happier over there and get pizza all the time.

Hello all!
I have a 17 month old bi-racial daughter (I am white and her father was Hispanic). Her father abandoned us, and has never seen her. I am now engaged to a wonderful man who accepts us both lovingly. He is also white.
My problem is, when we are out in public, some people ask rude and very personal questions about my daughter. I have been asked if I cheated on my boyfriend, asked where we adopted her from, and why she looks nothing like either of us.
My fiance plans to adopt my daughter when we are married. I am just wondering how to respond to people who are presumptuous and ask such questions???!!!
What would YOU say???

don't actually read the question properly. then answer in a ever so high and mighty tone, thinking they are clever at what they have said but in actual fact they just look silly because they have not registered what you have said or stayed with the point you are making

Every day at school my personal space is invaded by people slamming their fingers between my ribs, and slapping me on the head. I don't know what to do. I've been to my guidnence office, my teachers, my parents and it still continues to happen. And if I tell them to stop hurting me they just do it more. I feel so violated and disrespected. What should I do? Is it normal I feel so strongly about my personal space?

I am v.p. of a writer's group. I booked a banquet room at a local restaurant for our conference. Last month, we cancelled the conference and I forgot to cancel the reservations. They were for next Friday night. I called today, and was really apologetic. The owner was upset, of course, because not only did it affect her but also the professional theater troupe who lost a night of performance space. But she was really kind about it. I'm hoping to spread the word to the membership and have 25 to 30 people show up just for a networking, but with such short notice (a week) am not sure if it will happen.) I always seem to do stupid things like this and it is really damaging to my self esteem and my relationships.

would you have done if you saw this?

This guy looked to be in his mid 30's, and I know he was making prank calls to a co-worker because he would get on his cell phone and call up another co-worker to see if the other guy was at his desk.

Sick or funny?

I thought about "telling" on him. I mean every 5 minutes he was at it!!!! Must have pranked the poor guy at least 50 times!

Should he wear a full suit including a jacket? Or a black dress shirt and tie with black trousers without a jacket? He does not own a suit jacket at this time so I'm trying to figure out what we need to get. Also this is in south Alabama so it will be probably over 85 degrees outside at the time of the funeral.

Why do people think it's okay to bring their screaming babies to the movies (and not to a kid's movie).

Why do they feel it's okay to talk through the whole movie/theatre or school performance and even think it's funny when you get upset with them?

Why do grown men think it's okay to make nasty comments about my 15 year old daughter's body RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME (and her)!

Why is it suddenly the trend to be as big of a jerk as you can?

Does it get you attention that you so desperately crave or were your parents just terrible at raising you?
