Why do people think it's okay to bring their screaming babies to the movies (and not to a kid's movie).

Why do they feel it's okay to talk through the whole movie/theatre or school performance and even think it's funny when you get upset with them?

Why do grown men think it's okay to make nasty comments about my 15 year old daughter's body RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME (and her)!

Why is it suddenly the trend to be as big of a jerk as you can?

Does it get you attention that you so desperately crave or were your parents just terrible at raising you?

There are a few of us left that generally are well-mannered.We know the rules of Etiquette because we care;we know that being well-mannered requires small, inconsequential sacrifices on our parts in order for life to move on a little more smoothly.
Too many people today are not very smart or empathetic;they were raised to think of not only keeping up with the Joneses, but surpassing the Joneses and rubbing the Joneses' noses in the mud while bragging about their achievements to the Joneses.People are suposed to be raised well by parents, but unfortunately there are many parents who are just as clueless as their socially-inept offspring(I hope that man who was rude to your daughter doesn't have children).
In the past,the not-so-distant past,a well-rounded person received a well-rounded education;one learned not only the three Rs(reading,writing, and arithmetic)but learned geography,social studies,science,morals,art.
Children not only learned things in school, but at home.Today's lot aren't getting that kind of life training;they are not learning empathy and how their actions affect others;they aren't even learning basic table manners!
And the sad thing is that their parents don't care or are just plain ignorant.
I know what you mean;I can only sigh when I see children treating shopping center, store ailses, restaurants as playgrounds, getting under patrons' feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, and their parents just think that it's cute;the parents by the way are busy jabbering away on their cell phones.
Now,if only people would only take the time to be more aware of how their actions affect others and do something about IMPROVING themselves! But we are sadly lacking in good role models;badly behaved people make the news everyday(think Paris Hilton and her mother,Britney Spears,Lindsay Lohan, various rappers). When I was growing up there were people like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis,Princess Grace Kelly,Audrey Hepburn,Cary Grant,Lena Horne,Arthur Ashe,Coretta Scott King,Chris Evert...the list could go on,who were known for their intelligence, their manners. All I can say is that this world has become a very ugly place filled with selfish,ill-mannered,ignorant boors.Everyone needs to practice good manners;it's just common sense...but that's another thing that is lacking these days...sense!

Oh I've given up on this and withdrawn , shielding myself from the usually badly behaved women . Men wouldn't have the nerve to do what these women do . And as for sacred Motherhood they think it gives the Carte blanche for any aggressive social '''Gaff''.
They only go on to breed more . the only thing is to try and find people with manners but the whole of society needs an etiquette lesson , i fact there giving them in London for Children that cant use a knife and fork they been brought up on finger foods , and if their parents cabin afford the fees they must have had well to do parents so what does that say

Manners and common courtesy aren't common anymore. Simply because parents (not all mind you) don't teach their children manners. It's a shame that manners and common courtesy aren't valued like they used to be. I don't think it has to do with geography though. There are many northerners who have no manners or common courtesy.

It`s the parents. the kids were brought up by drunks or druggies or abusers.
Its horrible that our society is full of them. What I do is really appreciate the good kids and I let them know how proud of them I am. the kids that have no manners are going to have a real hard time in life and I feel sorry for them because their future is most likely to be prison.

Common courtesy left with the manners when correcting the children was banned and THEY GREW UP!
No one will watch a kid they can't correct.
They were'nt corrected and haven't taught their kids any better.
Men don't care about age, it's gratification for a lot of them.
The jerks were never jerked up by the shirt and given a little attention when it was needed.
We can't always blame the parents- but we do!

This is a sad thing and I find it is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. Disrespect for women in general has increased and I wish I knew what to do about it. People think it's ok to curse in public and say whatever they want on cell phones even though everyone can hear them. It is inexcusable to have people make comments on physical traits, that was always rude, I feel bad for your daughter having to endure this. they are morons and very rude to say the least.

Whether a person chooses to believe it or not, we are definitely living in the Last Days where people have become lovers of themselves.... the world seems to revolve around them. They are living in a "ME" first kind of world. The people who generally fall in this category are "smokers" and the younger crowd with cell phones glued to their ears no matter WHERE they are... in a grocery line, ... ANYwhere. Looking forward to the new heavens and the new earth.

Well... you have your really socially inept morons.. and then you have good people. As for old men making comments about your daughter right in front of you...I would have probably suggested to them that they modify their behavior or they will be served a knuckleberry sandwich.

The state of the world today is sad. People are living lives without God and you see the results. Many people need to repent and accept God into their hearts. I guarantee you that if people don't start putting God first in their lives, the world is going to get worst.
