I just ordered flowers for my grandma. My last name is hyphenated but I wanted both our names on it. (And grandma wouldn't recognize me without my maiden name.)

So I said "Jane Smith-Doe and John Doe". Is this acceptable or correct?

Yes it is acceptable. You want her to recognize your name and that is your name so I see nothing wrong with it.

Actually, proper (old fashion I'm very sure) etiquette says that the man's name should go first, but hey this is going to dear old grandma right?? What's wrong with Jane and John. Does she know more than one couple with the same first names???

I would have just said from Jane and John...unless grandma's mind is slipping, I'm sure she would know who they were from and you wouldn't have had to make a big deal about the last names.

Yes, it's acceptable. My husband, Doug cousin, send out her invitations with her name first then her future husband name. Like for example: Patricia A.Nelson-Witt and John N. Witt will be married on ____.

I think that sounds just fine.
My sister-in-law does the same thing.
