I am planning a "first" large family reunion. It is getting an incrediable response so we rented a pavilion for $250. I don't want to get stuck with the expense but how do you ask for everyone to help without sticking it to just a few (dividing it up) when you don't really know for sure who will be there. Some families are small, others are quite large, some have money, others do not. Quite a delimna for me. hummmm....I need some good ideas. Thanks!

If you do maybe you can relate to my question? Why is it when people see you with your nose in a book, they take that as an open inventation to start a long winded conversation with you? I love to read but find it hard to find the time to devote to it as much as I would like. I usually ride the bus into work each afternoon and like to read then. Why do people insist on interupting you with one question after the other? Can someone please explain this to me?

I found out from an acquaintance over a month ago that she's got cancer. She was due to find out from her doctor the next week to see if she was getting the 'clear'. She told me that she would give me a call in a couple of weeks but still hasn't. Would it be intrusive if I called her, as she's not a close friend? I don't know what the proper thing to do is. What is your opinion?

I just learned from an office friend that there are malicious gossips around the office about me and my exbf. It was so offensive and I don't know what to do. It even reached our big boss but he did not talk to me about it, instead he talked to my department head. How do I save my dignity against these lies? Please help :( I'm a Filipina working in a Chinese office environment)

I met a fellow temp a couple of years back and if we're lucky, we'll meet up again in the same company to temp! When we're not working together, I post her her birthday cards/presents and Xmas presents to her (usually vouchers), as I usually ask where she might be working during those times. The thing is, she keeps saying she has both my presents from ages ago and although she knows where I'm working, I never get them. Even now, we're in the same massive company again and when I saw her she giggled and said, "I've still got your Xmas present and birthday presents at home, plus the £3 I owe you" and I replied, "Well, why don't we meet up for lunch then?" in which she said she isn't available to. Am I a mug or what?

I give her presents because I want to and I told her I like her for her. She said the same of me. The £3 is petty to me by the way. She even mentioned that it was my birthday yesterday and still not got a thing!

I juust gave a neighbor some liturayure on how to stop drinking. V.A. stuff.
Then he came over to talk about it, he did have a 24oz. He seemed really cool, ok. you know.
then he dumped his beer! Long story short he trashed my end table and everything on it.
Anyway we both agreed to call the fire dept. to get some help. the fire dept. showed up, wouldnt help him at all! They "Fire Dept" asked if he needed to pee, yes he said.. we wont help help with that so he pissed all over my carpet.
so he crawled out of my apt. and while doing so got a bloody nose, falling onto his face while crawling. What do you guys think?

I am pretty upset that my neighbor and his family park their cars in my driveway enough that it stops me from moving into my driveway sometimes. They know I don't use my garage so I think that is why they encroach into my driveway but I think it is rude. Should I leave notes, confront the neighbor, threaten to tow their car or strategically position nails. Just because they see my car encroaching in my own driveway doesn't give them the right to do the same. I don't get into their driveway. I think they should reverse a bit and encroach in their own driveway I think. Please help. These neighbors are also the type who don't have much to lose if you know what I mean. I told one of the them once to move their car back and they did so right away but it still happens.

This bothers me..but really shouldnt, or at least thats what my friends/man tell me..
Tonight we went out for dinner and drinks with a group of friends, and were waiting until we could get a table. I heard them call one of our names (Nicole) and went to see if it was our party. Indeed it wasnt, and I told the hostess (I work with her sister) DAMN! i thought we were gettin lucky..(because its so hot outside, everyone was fanning themselves hardcore).

This biker looking guy says "with a sick sound coming out of your mouth like that, it's amazing you would ever get lucky."

I told my friends and bf this after we let the restaurant, bc i didnt want it to ruin our night.. but it hurt..

am i overreacting? I am intelligent, with a college education, etc.. and an attractive 20something lady. Picture jessica simpson. Im the exact opposite. Im a journalist, so words are my passion... I speak properly, no matter the place.
I have the slightest southern accent, no where near a drawl..

I am throwing a baby shower for my friend on Sunday and not a single person has RSVP'd. Shouldn't that be a requirement. i even wrote on the invite please Rsvp at (555)555-5555 by such and such date and no one did. I hope i am not the only one this happens to.
