I don't mind occasional swearing, but it should definitely be kept to a minimum. It's still considered rude.

The way I see it, I was raised and educated to be able to articulate without use of profanity in the first place, so I don't see any good reason to use it in speech in my adulthood. I think it is tasteless and diminishes one's image. I feel it has no real place in the speech of anyone, regardless of gender.
There's nothing more annoying and sad than being in a public area where there are 13 year old kids swearing every other word simply because they think it's "cool and adult" to do. And that's what adults who use profanity excessively sound like when they speak.
But I don't get offended and leave when people use profanity. Just because I don't, I'm not going to shun someone and play mommy to them. I just have far more respect for someone who doesn't use profanity in conversation.
It's unavoidable in our society unfortunately...so, to let it get that far under one's skin is really fruitless. It won't change anything.

Hi Nick, Yes they do. You do this out of respect and watch your language while your with females, it's also being a gentleman. If another guy uses profanity around your date you should put the guy with a dirty mouth in his place. When the guys get together they can be as dirty mouth as they want to, as long as theres no women present.
A Friend.

I don't like swearing in general. I agree with dances_with_unicorns that it usually implies that people can't come up with more intelligent things to say. I also agree with gabriella: The occasional rant where you spent 3 hours in traffic can have a few curses in it, fine. If someone accidentally jams you with an elbow and you let out a yelp-curse, that's understandable. But if you're talking about a TV show, a band, or the way you spent your Saturday, peppering the conversation with curses is just dumb and embarrassing for you. (In my opinion.)

I think this applies to either sex, although I happen to be female. If anyone's going to curse, I'd prefer they not do it around me. There are so many better words to use than the eight or so that people giggle about in sixth grade.

Even in today's society of convenience, good manners NEVER go out of style. A proper gentleman never uses profanity in front of ladies or children or at all for that matter. One who uses profanity in everyday speech is a person who not only is crass and boorish, but doesn't know how to think.

I do not know about any other women, but i would think that they would want that RESPECT !. I know i demand it and i return it, It's nothing worst than having a conversation with some one and every word that comes out of their mouth is profanity. Yes women do still want you to watch you language.

it's never too old-fashioned...
Most women like men who know how to talk in a gentlemanly manner...
using profane words in front of a woman is a sign of disrespect to her even if it wasn't meant for her... it's a big turn-off for a guy who uses this type of language.
women are sensitive towards this kind of stuff... so a guy should might as well watch the words that are comin' out of his mouth....=)

You don't want to limit your language too much. The girl that you are with or want to spend time with for a longer period of time is going to find out how you speak and whether or not you use vulgar language. But yes, it is always nice to limit on the swearing and try to use more proper words; it also shows a lot of respect that you try so hard for a person. However, a bad word occasionally won't hurt anyone.

During normal conversation I believe that swearing is rediculous and makes you sound illiterate and stupid.

Sometimes using profanity has its uses, describing a particularly horrible situation, or if you hurt yourself, i.e, bird feeder drops on your head, a loud swear word helps to release the pain.

I had hurt myself yesterday morning out of doors, and I KNOW I was heard within 50 miles shouting at a non-existant mf er.

To be politically correct these days, I would think you should use exactly the same language in front of men or women. Isn't it a bit condescending to do otherwise??

Hopefully we are always respectful of everyone we are around, NOT. As a matter of fact, I hear women using as foul or worse language than anyone else.

Why would you use profanity in any case? Its vulgar and so unnecessary. Its bad manners too. A definite turnoff.
