Usually it means they are checking the other person out; will they respond with humor? are we going to be able to get along? Am I going to be the top hen in the pecking order?
It depends on the threat and the situation. They could just be insane and hallucinating they are being threatened!

Experience a need to control probably because they have no control, bullying makes them feel important and less impotent.
What is in their mind . . . a very messed up sense of what it is to be a happy human.

more people are mean and hateful on here than i ever met in my daily life, but i think it makes them feel better about themselves to be hurtful to others. that's the way bullies usually work. i just pray for them to have peace one day

never works for me. i start to say a threat or an insult and then being to smile halfway through which ruins everything. then we both end up laughing
