you seem to have misinterpreted the saying.

sound waves are the way that sounds exist, vibrations in particals which are picked up by our ears, varying in pitch and volume via the frequency and strength of the vibrations ( thats why no sound in a vacuum, nothing to vibrate!).

to have two people on the same "wavelength" means for those people to have the same way of thinking, aka they understand each other.

i suppose it could also be attributed to talking on radios, if someone was talking on a radio, you' have to tune into their station (you would have to enter their domain) to listen to them, in a similar way that to understand someone, you have to attempt to understand their thoughts, motives and values.

i SO see where you are coming from.
wavelengths between people is kind of like that 'like seeks out the like' ; and soundwaves have to hit that 'spot' in the ear to vibrate to hear. if someone doesn't have that part of the ear working he/she can't hear it (to like it to seek it out).
