usually being rich spiritually. Always best option of the two.

The best thing about being poor would be that you accept people more like...if someone was not dressed in high fashionable clothing , you still see them as good people and wouldn't mind having a nice conversation with them ,or get to know them.
Just because someone doesn't have alot of money doesn't mean their not worth knowning or don't have something important to say that you could learn from.
Growing up i wouldn't say i was poor but not wealthy either so i liked everyone and gave everyone a chance and didn't judge them for being poor thinking i was too good for them to talk to. Or that they were just trash!

Although I can't say I've ever been truly "poor" (since I don't believe most Americans even know the meaning of the word), I think the best thing about it is that it gives you compassion for others.
Some of the most generous people I know are those that have the least.
It also inspires creativity. When you have plenty of money, you can just buy it, charge it, have it wrapped & sent, get it catered, hire it out, etc. But when you are poor, you have to be very creative with things such as home decorating, home repair, entertainment, gift-giving, having friends over, dressing, etc.

Here's a quote I read only a week ago: True poverty is not an empty purse, it's an empty heart. Poverty does not create unhappiness any more than wealth creates joy.
Being able to pass on your stories to future generations, either your own children or other people's, is priceless. My 'poor childhood' holds such happy memories for me despite the lack of money, so I guess that all the answers on here apply. Value what you have that is NOT for sale-ie health, love, sanity, family. Even the poorest can 'afford' those.

I think the best thing about being poor is concerned with safety, in other words, poor people don't have to worry about being robbed or assaulted since they have little or few things just for the sake of being able to live on poorly and nobly.

There's nothing good about being poor anyone who tells you different is telling lies and has never been poor. There are people who are rich and unhappy such people are probably incapable of being happy. If you cant be happy when you have all you need you sure as hell wont be happy if your poor. I think the trick is to have someone to share what you have!

I don't know it is a long time since I could consider myself poor financially, and I only remember the struggle.
Others I have seen seem to have a strong family/community attitude of gratitude when they are happy.
I would not like to have to find out so am practicing being very grateful for what I have.

There's only one way to go - up, whereas if you're rich there's always the chance you could fall down! Also, a poor man has his dreams of achievement, but a rich man has already achieved, so where are the dreams? One more thing - a poor man is unemcumbered by possessions, so should be more free spirited. Well, that's what I keep telling myself anyway!

Poor is a state of mind not a bank balance. Being nice to others by kind words and actions means more than money can buy......
But you try telling that to your kids at Christmas!!!

You have more opportunities to improve your situation. Problems arise when you try to get out of being poor with a poor attitude.

I don`t think there really are any. I have been poor and rich, and in all honesty I must tell you it is better to be rich, because even if money can`t buy everything; it gives you a better standard of living to be miserable in!
