I am planning a "first" large family reunion. It is getting an incrediable response so we rented a pavilion for $250. I don't want to get stuck with the expense but how do you ask for everyone to help without sticking it to just a few (dividing it up) when you don't really know for sure who will be there. Some families are small, others are quite large, some have money, others do not. Quite a delimna for me. hummmm....I need some good ideas. Thanks!

Often when having a family reunion you join together on this day to connect with each other, eat, play games, tip a few etc...in our past reunions we ask that everyone who is attending rsvp and the cost of food, drink etc....is then determined and divided amongst all attendees. If you must rent a pavillion then that fee should be added to the total cost of the food. We also ask that attendees bring a side dish and a 12 pk of beer or soda. So if 15 families are attending the cost of the pavillion rental would be divided amongst the 15 at a cost of $16.67.... The cost should not be your burden.
Have fun and enjoy the day.

I would probably ask everyone to bring something plus $10 bucks each (depending on how many people you invited). I've thrown a lot of parties and I've never had a problem getting food or money from the people who are invited. I always gave them a couple weeks heads up on the party and organized it so that 10 people weren't bringing potato salad.

All in all....everyone was willing to pitch in.

Good Luck!
