The concept of chivalry was born from the desire to help and protect those considered weaker. I am in perfect health and am stronger naturally than most guys that lift weights daily. (I only lift once or twice a week).

So, I give up my seat and open doors for everyone. Who knows who is sick that day or just finished chemo?

My wife has a big problem with this. She says:

#1: Only women are deserving. I say, why not be courteous enough to let anyone sit that feels they need to?

#2: That according other women chivalrous treatment is wrong. OK to Stand or open a building door.

But, I should not open car doors for other women, help others with a coat, help others get seated, etc. These things should be reserved for her only.

I believe all people should be treated with good manners.

We've gone round and round on this.

How do I convince her that good manners are deserving by all, male, female, wife, UPS guy/gal, co-worker, or stranger.

I amn beginning to think i am a loser, please give me your opinion. If these things listed happen to somebody, are they a loser?

You get popcorn thrown at your head in the cinema

You come out after college, and someone has pushed your moped over

You have to wear glasses

You come out of the cinema, and your car wont start, and people drive past shouting "ha ha loser

You get the courage to go for a night out with your one friend, and you get refused to be let in because you look too young even though your 21.

You buy a new CD from the shop, and a group of bullies find you and take it away and crush it.

everything always goes wrong for you

Please i really need your advice

I’m a temp and so are 3 others. Granted, I leave at 4pm, but this morning I came into work and found that everyone had been given a beautiful basket of fruit, except, who do you think – me! I feel so horrible. They came and handed them round after I’d left and I’m the only one in the office who hadn’t received one. I feel so embarrassed. How do I feel better about this? It was the same at Xmas, I was the only one who didn’t get invited for the Xmas lunch.

We have two realtors, a female, and a male. The female is easy, as a "Thank you for all your hard work"-gift- I am going to send her flowers. As for the male, I am completely stuck, and so is my husband. Sending flowers, seems like an appropriate gift for a female, but I am not feeling the same appropriate "feeling" as a gift for a male. Also, they are related, mother and son.... but I don't think getting them a shared gift is appropriate either.. PLEASE HELP!

The president's or governor's wife is referred to as the "First Lady". How should a person refer to their spouse if its a man? First Gentleman? First Husband? First Man? We have a female governor here (and what if Hilary Clinton gets elected as president?)

I'll call my boss Andrew, for anonymity.

I do a lot of temporary work and sometimes go back to the same placement (as I get asked to go back by the permanent secretary). My boss' wife came into the office one day (never met her before) and I greeted her and shook her hand. The first 2 things she said were, "You know that Andrew is very pleased with his permanent secretary". And so I just shook it off and thought nothing of it, as I couldn't really care less, as I love temping. The next thing she said was, "Don't you ever get asked to leave, if you do something wrong?" I just said, "No".

Andrew's permanent secretary does ask me back, when she takes leave, so why did his wife say these things to me?

I find myself squinting at the screen like an old woman trying to decipher what has been written. It takes 1 second more to write 'you' instead of 'u'.

Am I getting old and should we put up with the destruction of our beautiful language, or are there just too many lazy people out there?

Well, I built walls around myself because I have been hurt before. Any who, I have also matured a lot-I have decided to join the armed forces-ROTC. So this has definitely molded in see life in a different light than what I did before. I know someone with kind of like the same experience, I am friends of the family and his sister's friend..now, we are not close at all-I have only said 'hi and by'-we are facebook friends-I finally decided to add him-since I don't have feelings for him like that any more. Any who, we have a lot in common that I just didn't realize...and this includes trusting people deeply-he has a facebook and has nothing on it; and I don't either except pics. I want him to open up to me and confide in me-how can he give me a chance to trust in me-even though we have never really chatted with each other? I feel like since we are both in the military-he went military academy route-that I could understand him on a deeper level-he is introvert-how can he open up to me?

Well, recently I came across a question that read, How do you Americans deal with being slobs? Then they added, PS. Im Indian. Well, the question made me upset so I responded,"The same way you deal with smelling like curry."
I feel so bad for saying that, I let my anger get the best of me but I will not make excuses. I just would like to say "I'm sorry" because deep down it's the right thing to do. As a Black person, I hate it when we are associated with food, like fried chicken which is dumb because folks of all races eat it. Just like people of all races probably eat curry. I, personally have never tried it, but i'm sure it ain't half bad.
