To be a prosperous country you must rid the country of corruption and educate the people in looking after their environment. They should also be education in child birth.
Change the government and have freedom of speech and the people should have a say in the way the government runs the country. Get rid of the caste way of life. Every one should be equal and women should not be frowned on, they would have a great input if only they were treated better.
Saying all that India is still a world unto itself and a real eye opener.

Retain the beauty of your ancient heritage while moving forward. Education is extremely important, something that was actually a part of the old culture (temples were known for their emphasis on education.) Look to the past and realize that India was an innovative nation--Ayurvedic medicine, poetry, arts, architecture--and use that to create a modern society with its own distinct flavor. Promote women's equality through laws and examples of great women in India's long history. Undo the caste system through legislation and examples of the problems it's caused all through history.

Because it is difficult to get rid corruption in India. if on 30% of Indians are corrupt, that means 300 million of corrupted people. If India is centrally managed like China they would have done much better than China.

Education, education, education.
But also remembering that prosperity is not only the western way of life: your own culture should be preserved and remain. Reproducing the aseptic world of the US isn't the answer... the answer is in finding your own way, in ensuring families are protected, children are healthy and educated, birth rate is controlled, food is available.

For me, I dont think so anything can be done till WE UNITE irrespective of caste and religion. Given by some rulers our politicians are following the same track of divide and rule.
Not favouring anyone I think most of the mughal kings were much better who ruled for 700 years and very few unpleasant incidents.
