If I wrote and spoke like others that I see on this site, I would be unemployed!

Language is a gift. Why don't people embrace it?

Okay, I went to a appointment for Harvard Vanguard in Wellesley( a rich white suburb) and as I was paying for my appointment with a check, this woman asked for my phone number on my check. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF HARVARD FOR 10YEARS AND NO ONE HAS EVER ASKED ME FOR MY NUMBER! I HAVE NO BAD CREDIT AND A STABLE JOB AND ALWAYS PAY FOR MY APPOINTMENTS! I told her my check won't bounce and then she wanted me to sign a slip saying it wouldn't and I told her no. Then when I arrived at the office, I asked the receptionist for the bathroom, she asked me "WHY DO YOU NEED TO GO? DO YOU HAVE A APPOINTMENT HERE?". I say "of course I do". then she told me. After my appointment, I left my appointment and went into the store and I bought some chips and the guy say to me " ARE YOU GONNA PAY FOR THAT WITH FOOD STAMPS?" I was angry so I didn't even buy the chip. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THEM? I WENT OUT TO 5 SUBURBS AND THEY TREATED ME JUST LIKE THIS! I'M NOT SCARY, I'M NOT GANGSTA! WHAT IS THE DEAL?

alright my college advisor asked me why i was going to into the marine corps to become an officer. he asked me about what jobs i wanted to do and i told him either Infantry or FAST (which is like SWAT) he told me "no, no its to dangerous and your to smart for that. than he tried to be "understanding" and say im not calling infantry ppl dumb its just that i think there r better options for you.
I got mad as hell but didnt want to talk back cuz he was my adivisor. how can he say that?? pretty much he was calling grunts dumb, so someone who has bullets flyinjg over there heads..trying to call in a medic vac...give orders that can possibly end a life...and call in artillery strikes isnt a smart person? what do u think?

So, I hang out with a friend a lot who insists on always driving so she can smoke. But I have asthma and am quite intolerant of smoke. She'll blast the air and open the windows, but it doesn't help. I can still breathe it, and I end up smelling like it when I leave her car. I mean, is that right, to just do something like that even if it's a medical issue with your friend? I'm tired of it, but I know she'll ***** if I ask her not to smoke around me. I just need a little advice, I guess.

Our subject teacher asked us to read a story in our book.
It is all about a rich but selfish giant and asked us the question "What will you do if you have a very rich but selfish neighbor?"
for our assignment. I hope you can share me your ideas...

I've never really figured this one out, especially when the tables are close together, like in many metro area restaurants. Sometimes it's in my lap, with my napkin draped over it, which never feels real comfortable; sometimes I've placed it, literally, on the floor under my chair where I can feel it with a shoe! Any suggestions on this one?

About a month ago I quit my job at the restaurant I've been at for almost 2 years. I left because I was supposed to be moving away for school, which didn't work out, so now I'm back. My boss keeps telling my sister to tell me that they'll give me a job serving. I don't want to go back there to work. I was treated very well by my managers while I was there, but I have no desire to work there again. I was hired to work in a department store today. Should I go visit my former employers and thank them for their offer, but tell them that I want to work someone else for a while for whatever reasons? I really like them and I don't want there to be any hard feelings over this.

this is the "winning answer" from when I asked this question, but if you all don't come up with something different I have to do what this girl said:

You should dress as a girl cheerleader because you lost the bet & you said that's what you said you'd do if you lost. But, you should dress compleletly as a girl from head-to-toe & then dress as a girl cheerleader. Let them dress you up in whatever they want & let them take you as far as they want dressing you as a girl.

Me and my sister have this problem with my dad and the way he eats. He grew up with a big family and everyone had the worst eating habits. He talks with his mouth full, food flys out of it, he makes that gulping noise when he drinks, even when he swallows solid foods! Plus that weird clacking sound when you put to much food in your mouth. We've confronted him on his manners countless times, everytime we say something like "Dad please stop I'm trying to eat" Or "Could you please be a little quieter?" But he ignores us, so we suggested that he at least not eat around us, or go into another room. But guess what? We can hear him in the other room! It's that bad! We really tried having mature conversations about this but he gets mad! As if he has the nerve to be the mad one! It's gotten really bad, I feel so helpless, the sound is seriously sickening, nothing we do seems to work. How can we confront him if all he does is have a hissy fit? Please help!

What would you do if someone is parked in your reserved parking space that you pay for? This is at my apartment complex. I've noticed that this same person parks in other peoples' reserved parking spaces too. And this person probably does drugs.

1. Would you have it towed immediately?
2. Would you just leave a note on the car? If so, what would you write on the note?
3. Would you just report it to the apartment manager?

I know I sound like a freak but I have a bad habit of staring at people. It may be because I have really bad eyesight and I need to stare to get a good glance at people. But I find myself staring at people regardless and it sucks cauz its not like I'm trying to be offensive. It's just something I can't help but do( you know pereffial vision) Also when I'm in class or something like that I get so intense into the lecture that I may stare.

Well I got a co-worker that I'm attracted to and think he feels the same way. But I'll never persue it because I don't date someone I work with. Too Much drama.

Anyway, at my company's holiday party, I introduced him to my date. He kind of frowned at him and hesistated to speak to him and shake his hand. So my date is looking somewhat crazy - which he is - thats a story within itself, and I'm standing think whoa what was that about.?Me with my somewhat insecure azz was thinking why did my co-worker look at him like that - what? He must think that I can't get nobody? So as weeks a finally a month went by that night and incident has been plaguing my mind.

So now I'm think that I was over analyzing the situation and my co-worker didnt react to my date like?

Am I over-reacting, dellusional, over analyzing what I saw??

I heard that panties and especially panty hose are un-natural and cause yeast infections. this was the word back in hippie free love days when no girl wore them unless she was square. so britney is just being a natural healthy girl. they also went topless a lot and wore see thru blouses and no bras. truly it is so. i swear it and will never forget it. the good old days. yeah! the campus at Cabrillo college near santa cruz CA was full of topless girls taking sun baths on any sunny day. nobody bothered them it would be uncool.

Upon reading this, I am aware that all of you will bash me and hope for my worst death. That is fine.

When I was about 14, some days we had friends over. One girl, who was a few years younger than me. As a prank, I gave her small wedgies or poke her butt.

Now, there was no "fingering" or "penetration" involved. I didn't strip down, nor did she. I didn't flash my genitals at her, nor did I feel her private area. I didn't get any sort of orgasm or anything like that.

Also I am (and please I am serious) someone who is afraid/uncomfortable at viewing porn. When a friend has found a porn email/site and wants to look at it, I instantly look away or refuse to talk about it. I have never viewed any kind of porn (including today, a college student).

The girl from what I hear/see, is perfectly fine. She still comes with other people, laughs etc. However I have immense guilt about it, and worry that I will be labeled as a sex offender.

So tell me, am I a disgusting pervert who should die?

everytime someone is offended with the remark? While some things people say demonstrate inferior vocabulary and knowledge, being called to apologize for this word, that word, is getting ridiculous. Why can't people just realize that not everyone is going to like everything or everyone else?

Also, why is tolerance only afforded to the complainers? If one is to be tolerant of another's views, and vice versa, how come only the complainers "deserve" to be tolerated?

In Australia we don't give out tips. We simply pay for the service and that's it. I'm thinking of visiting New York at the end of the year and eventually moving there.. Can someone give me a guide on what to do and not to do in terms of giving people tips ?
Eg, am i giving out tips to everyone that has done me a service ? Who do i not have to pay a tip to ?
What happens if you forget to pay a tip ?
How much is an appropriate sum to give ?
What other countries do 'tips' ?
.. All the fundamentals i guess ? Anybody got some good guidelines i can go by .. i would appreciate it.

I know we have all seen it. A car parked in handicapped slot and a bunch of young people get out and none show any necessity for the parking priviledge.

I drive my 96 yr old mom to stores and can't find a parking place in handicapped. She uses a walker and can't go far before she gets in a wheelchair. Most times if we can find a parking spot, it's by pure luck! It just burns me up to see a bunch of kids get out of a car and bounce into the store. Wish I had a good stress reliever....lol. Know any?

And yes, I've had ugly comments made to me when I take a load of packages to the car before my mom gets out of the store and starts to the car. All assuming I parked there as a single occupant. I know mistakes can be made, but I'm talking about the obvious ones where you see them get out of the car after parking.
